Audi Q5 is far better in the functions of the interior. Audi has not put in just electronic buttons so one has to take ones eyes away from the road while driving to adjust banal settings like temperature and speed of airflow. What imbesill at Voldo decided such stupidity??? The "safety car" is not as safe as Volvo used to be, because the style ppl won over the safety ppl. And the "4wd" system is just Haldex-style. No good by other words! The best driving lights are not as good as the Q5's either, the distance between the b-pillars are way to cramped and Volvo seats is not what they used to be.
Too much comparisons with the Audi Q5. The presenter should stick to pointing out this vehicle's greatest selling points and weaknesses, instead of "telling the viewer that the benchmark is the Q5"
Having used a 90 series for a few months now I've found that the main reason I use the screen on the move is to switch the stop-start off. Most other functions can be either actuated by voice control or the keypad on the right, which brings a menu up on the dash. Door sills on XC60 are a significant improvement over that of the XC90, which forces passengers to reach their legs far out from the seats to reach the ground. All in all my Volvo 90 series is the best car I've ever had, and I've had a few. Personally I would not bother with air suspension, but each to their own.
STOP BEING AUDI FANS!! THIS CAR HASN'T A SINGLE ASPECT IN WHICH AUDI COULD BE BETTER! Truth is that if you don't spend 80k over an Audi you won't have any special interior quality! Audi are full of cheap plastics too but Audi buyers are kind of blind!
The T8 inscription is designed for countries with very high import taxes but high eev and local assembly incentives. I can see how it can be overpriced and impractical as a purchase in the UK but here in Malaysia T8 hybrid models of Volvos are cheaper than t5s or D5s. Our family owns a T8 XC90 and over here in its top of the range inscription trim its cheaper than the equivalent T5 in the same trim. Just to clarify that the T8 does have its purpose :D
If it weren't for the title of the video I would have thought this was an Audi commercial. Pretty bizarre given the fact that last year and the one before the Volvo XC60 was the best seller in his category in the EU and that this new generation is waaaaayyy better than the last one ever was.
All the other models have got buttons in the boot to release the back seats, as far as I am aware. They are located next to the switch to raise and lower the air suspension.
This is my current top pick for a mid-size family SUV. For my taste, this car has way more style and presence than a Q5 or X3. For that reason alone I'd choose it over the Germans, but I've test driven an XC60 and it didn't disappoint on any level. Okay maybe the steering was a bit lifeless, but not a big deal on an SUV. I'm looking forward to testing the T8 version soon.
I love this guy's reviews. Wish I could take him car shopping with me, though the fascination with scratchy plastics is beginning to give me nightmares (I've never given them a second thought but now habitually start inspecting for them the minute I sit in yet another shortlisted selection).
I like it.... but not at those prices! Porsche Macan, or save £20K and have a Discovery Sport with 7 seats. Depreciation pretty savage on Volvos so could wait 18-24 months and get a low mileage bargain :-)
Sorry, can’t watch through to the end. The voice and camp hand gestures is very off putting. Just talk properly without the silly overly exaggerated intonation (presenter voice).
I thought this was a very good review. I see some are complaining you didnt give every single detail. I think they expect way too much. It is just not reasonable to expect every detail. The review would be hours long. You gave great information. If I need to know more I will do more research. Thank you.
Agree. I would buy this XC60 only if they have a jog dial to operate screen unless functionalities can be operated within a steering wheel buttons. I hate to see many car manufactures don't even think how difficult to use touch screen dash while driving higher speed. I hate to see so many car reviewers except this man fail to mention it. Many of them just showing touch screen functions while car is sitting in showroom don't bother to think how a real life of various people using it. I am now looking into 2018 X3 that has a nice jog dial on the side console. Btw, I originally looking into 2018 Q5 but discovered its jog dial was not even useful because it's located far to the front dash. Only 6'2 or taller can reach their hand without leaning upper body while driving. I also hate so much Q5 FAKE exhaust pipes. Paying $55000 and you get a FAKE thing. This Volvo's fake exhaust is actually better because pipes are at least stick into rear chamber.
Its pretty shocking the lower models don't come with electric seats for the driver, this has been available on average cars for a decade or more in Australia, you would think it would be standard fair.
There is a button to fold seats in the back of the car. At least the Inscription has it. But im pretty sure its true for R design also. How could you miss that? And no, German cars is not nicer interior wise. At least at the same pricetag.
Hi James, can I seek your opinion, between a entry level F-pace with black pack and a R-design T6 2018 XC60 Volvo. Both at the same price. Which one would you choose?
I'm a bit irritated by Volvo's insistence on chucking everything into that touch screen. I don't doubt it's one of the better ones on the market, but I feel that Jaguar and Land Rover's upcoming variations on this theme (in the i-Pace and Velar) is better, safer and easier to use, thanks to the hybrid mix of screens and physical dials.
Nice review, but there's one thing you forgot when you were mentioning cubby spaces/storage. Under the 2nd row (outer) seats, there is a small cubby space big enough to hold and iPad/phone/wallet which is pretty cool.
Ive been in both the Audi Q5 and the Volvo XC60 and I personally thing the Volvo sweeps the q5 in terms of interior quality. also, the rear leg room in the Audi isn't as ample as the Volvo.
The interior and exterior would be much more interesting if it wasn't in boring colours. Externally I particularly prefer gun metal grey for instance and the interior to be a combination of ivory leather and a dark wood and shiny black plastic or better yet steel effect dash.
when will car reviewers stop comparing suv's from the same manufacturer like "big brother" "little brother" "shrunken version"......we get it....we already know what it s is
Been watching quite a lot of Jay Leno's garage recently, makes me realise how dull and characterless modern cars are. They are all the same no matter if they are Swedish,German,Japanese or Korean. Sad really.
If you think that a Giulia has the same design or character than a Lexus IS for instance, you're either blind or you never drove on of these. Even the germans, especially the C-Class and the 3 series, couldn't be more different in driving characteristics or design (especially interior)
What a terrible review, it's a hybrid, did you tell us the battery size..... No. Did you tell us how far you can drive in electric only mode".....No. if my work is 10 miles away could I get to work and back on electric only"........ you don't tell us. Volvo expects a range of just over 30 miles on electric only,, Wow so if you did a proper test I may be able to judge if I could do all my week day driving on electric and for longer journeys I have the petrol assist, hybrids are coming you should be giving this information not wow how fast is this
Magicman I disagree, we decide what we buy, from informed facts, there was no information, my current car is the new shape Volvo XC90, I don't mind paying the same amount for the new XC60 if I knew I could do most of my driving on electric, it's not a cost thing it's an environmental thing for me, tell me the information, I decide, who decided which car you drive, you or a journalist,. I know many people are not capable of making there own decisions, 15 years ago I was a car salesman, lady walked into my showroom and asked me what the flashiest car I had, I pointed to a light blue coupe with cream leather and she said, I'll have it, didn't care about the price, just wanted the flashiest car for the school run, go figure
Henrik Nielsen why can't a car review video just do a proper review, we seek independent review, these reviews make money posting on RU-vid, the presenter gets paid to review a car, clearly he is just doing it by numbers, is nobody interested in important stuff, maybe you think that when we go to dealerships we should have with us a bottle of water and a bag of crisps to put in the glove box, do you really think you have just watched a worthwhile review of this car ?
