Love the look. I have the 2020 XC90 with the new 21” rims and they perform great but are not as quiet or smooth as 19” rims on the loaner car I drove. A note on safety, always use jack stands especially with kids around.

Hello, I also have a 2020 XC90 with upgraded 21 inch factory wheels and the tire humming noise is driving me nuts. Would you please explain how noisy yours is? My front rotors had to be replaced just in first 5K miles due to vibration while braking too so I am starting to question Volvo's reliability.

The fender arch differences is odd. I thought only T5 Momentums came with the smaller flares, but there are some T6 that got them. No rhyme or reason to the package options. Like they ran out of T6 flares or grabbed form the wrong stack on the assembly line. There is an "urban luxury " styling kit that adds larger fender flares. There is also a "Rugged" styling kit that adds large fender flares in grey plastic along with grey plastic on the bottom half of the doors....in case you want to make your Volvo look like Subaru Outback. Both options are quite rare since they were ~$5k.

It is always better not to have low profile tyres, the more depth you have in your tyres ( more tyre less wheel ) the softer the ride is, also less chance of damaging the wheel rim in pot holes, also less expensive when you need new tyres.

No need to reprogram. Just synchronize them

I was under the impression that when one changes wheel specs like that, the TPMS has to be Adjusted and the computer software for the cars Driveability too ?

So I have a 2016 XC90 T5 Momentum with 19' rims /wheels. Can I swap to the 21' like you did . I ask because I am unsure if anything additional is needed - like spacers or anything that I am not aware of ?

Hi Tommy, Very useful video. When you said "you have to setting" after take the jack out, what do you mean with that? Did you had to do some work on the height of the suspension or just to drive around.

Thx for the vid! Curious, did you have to have the dealer update the wheel/tire size in the car’s computer? Doing the same change on a 2020 XC90 and just thought of it... stealth hitch video is a huge help. Thx for both!

Like the upgrade...I guess the wife got jealous with the F80 mods.... Last time I saw that kind of leaf spring setup was in a Nissan van, called vannette imported from Japan...would break periodically but was never dangerous..

Hi Tommy, first of all great video. I do have a question, does the passenger side front suspension look the same as the driver side? I noticed that my 2017 has another part attached to the bracket. I'd appreciate if you could verify that for me. Thanks.

It’s the leveling sensor. You can simply detach it when doing it and nothing will happen

Yeah I have 19.5 on my R design and hate it, it’s so bumpy going into a driveway and it’s louder than just the 18 on the momentum.

I would like to ask if I should turn off the body suspension before changing the tire, and my hydraulic jack can only go up to 14 inches at most. Is it enough to lift the tire? Thank you

No need to disconnect and the Jack will be fine. Maybe use a puck to give you more reach

Did you have any issues with the TPMS system? I just swapped my 19s for 21s and now I get an error message. Volvo said I need to have them program the bigger wheels/tires. Any thoughts?

Tommy, did you notice the front wheel drive nature of the XC90 on the highway? I drove one and didn't care for the the feel on the highway due to it. The alignment was in spec. I love the look and comfort of them but the driving characteristics were not favorable. Your new wheels look so much better!
