A little test of this mini amp plugged directly on the sound card with my Yamaha Pacifica 012... sorry for crappy playing! Check out new video! • Vox Amplug - How does ...
nice playing. not bad at all! and thanks a lot for throwing this on here and giving people an idea of the sounds (clean, distortion, and in between) you helped seal the deal for me. thanks!
8/10! From Cleans to crunchs it's amazing. Distortion (full gain setting) is good (not a hi-gain one)... It's really good for vintage sounds, for rock and hard rock... If you love metal sounds, forget to buy this AC30 and get an Amplug Metal ;)
No, I just bought the AC30 (from Ebay). Right now, after some adjustments I managed to get a cool distortion using the AC30 with the Metal Muff, and I even did some recording with Nuendo that turned out pretty interesting considering I'm using only my crappy sound card. I got a pretty fat yet defined distortion for Doom Metal (whish is my intention). It's funny because I ended up using about 80% of the distortion from the AC30 and only 20% from the Metal Muff.
@emmittsmith482 you can plug it into your guitar and by using and adapter you can run a cord from the headphone jack to a p.a. ... also yes you could run it to your cabinet but it would be essentialy the same thing just the cord runs from guitar to amplug
I think my point is: if you plug your distortion pedal to an amplifier you'll always get your distortion influenced by the sound of the amp; the cleaner the amp itself, the more control you'll have over the sound you get from the pedal. So I expect the same kind of response from this AC30 thing. I've ordered it already, and some decent studio headphones, so I'll tell you about the results when it arrives.
@@rayedsamdani2478 wow, it's been 14 years now. I don't even play the guitar anymore! Anyway, the Vox Amplug was a neat little adapter, decent sound and very cool for practicing with headphones without needing anything else plugged in.
it will fit on les paul, but there will be no option of switching directly from clean to dirty. it has only 3 setting knobs, input, headphones output and on/off switch. so, unless you have faster hands than devil himself, you will have to play on one setting only, the one that you select on the beginning. assuming you have epi les paul (i have epi SG, basically the same, only shape is different) you can get a LITTLE different sound by switching the pickups. but it wont do a miracle
It arrived today. I tested it with some really mediocre headphones, but it was enough to notice the AC30 has a lot of influence over the distortion of the pedal. I can get a fairly decent distortion but it gets a bit too much fuzzy and the high notes sound too electronic and a bit delayed. I still hope to equalize it a bit better and also some good headphones will help. The AC30 itself sounds great though.
no, there is no distortion/clean switch, distortion appears gradually, when turning the GAIN pot up. so you can also get clean, distorted and any crunchy sound between. works good with my seymour-duncan SH4 pickup
Most pedals are built for driving headphones especially analog distortions your zoom is a mulit effects which often have headphone driving capabilities. Without some guitar speaker emulation the pocket muff will sound very bad. So maybe try through your zoom. Or possible through a D.I. with cab emulation (the Red Behringer one is an alright cheap option).
You can hear this mini amp because it has a headphone minijack. But for make this video and make it audible for all youtubers like you, I picked a cable and linked the amplug output (usually for headphones) in the line in of the soundcard! You can plug it on a pair of pc speakers, on the home stereo system... in a mixer... in a guitar amp!!! Wherever you want (and with some pre-amplified speakers). (Sorry for my bad english ç_ç)
Aaah... That helped me a bit I guess ^^ Could I maybe ask you a question more? I´m getting a Ephiphone Les Paul Standard soon, and the Ac30 (If it will fit me). Will I be able to play songs like Sum 41 - Fat lip, Blink 182 - first date and such?? Like also in example Fat lip it requires Clean and distortion. Would there be an option for switching?
Depends on how much crappy it is... It sounds good connected to hi-fi systems, speakers or headphones but also in amps!!! If you want to practice with an amp it sounds good, but if you want to make a crappy amp a good one, this amplug isn't useful! Cheers
I see what you mean, but I'm wiling to try, since I already bought the Metal Muff I want to use it, and I assume the best amPlug choice would be the AC30, since the pedal, and my pickups, have a very high output already, I need the amPlug to be as clean as possible. Also, the Metal amPlug doesn't have clean sound, and the classic rock isn't as clean as this one. It's true, I could use the Metal Muff with my Zoom pedal but the thing is a bit broken and it's very old. Thanks for replying.
I have a Pocket Metal Muff pedal for my guitar, but it can't drive headphones as I expected (I have a Zoom effects pedal which can so I tought this one also could). My question is: will I get a decent sound if I plug this amPlug into the output of my pedal? I mean, I need the sound from the amPlug to be as clean as possible, because the pedal has a lot of gain. In fact, the ideal would be an amPlug that would only transmit the sound without adding to the tone or gain at all. Is this recomended?
Ok, help me out here--I just started getting interested in playing electric guitar...how are you getting the sounds to be heard by us, if this is a headphone amp? Sorry, if that's a truly stupid question but, as I said, I'm new to amps and electric guitars.
Yeh sorry that was kinda my point. The AC30 would work but it would give you that AC30ish sound even clean as possible which I love but I don't know if you will like it for metal if thats what you want though they have other amplugs that may be better.
Hey I have a question... I know this amplug plugs directly to ur guitar right? but what if I want to plug it to my effects? does it still work? Guitar-Effect-Amplug?
I see your point but wouldn't the amplug work as a speaker emulator? I mean, it's supposed to be used as replacement for your amp going directly to your ears via headphones, so wouldn't the Ac 30 work connected to the pedals output?
Hi from UK. Can i play my ipod Touch song through it to jam along to ? What kind of connection would i need and where could i get it? Cheers for any advice
It can't be used like a mini amp because it doesn't have a speaker...It has just a headphone jack to plug in your external speakers as headphones, pc speakers, amps...
This is really weird. This is the only video with distortion, and all the other videos are clean parts only, so I wondered if there is a distortion switch on the amplug? Thanks :)
man i so want 1 to tell you the truth its more of a need you can probly hook it up to your pod 6 micro multy effex so cool a mini amp and a mini fx pedal
Hi, I want to get one of these, but I don't know which one should I get. I am playing Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Hard Rock and a lot of types of metal. Please help me decide :)
@wazzzzaaa2 AC30 has few gain but better sound, ClassicRock is based on Marshalls, Metal is very powerful. I suggest you ClassicRock (but AC30 is also a good choice)
Aaaah, just the explanation I looked thing. A long a detailed one I could actully use :) Thanks, but yah, that sucks a bit =/ I guess I'll have to deal with that ^^ Thanks alot.
