Another fun fact: Vax'ildan's name came from a combination of wanting to sound similar to Vex'ahlia and honoring Liam voicing Illidan in World of Warcraft.
@@HearthArrowandKey Yep! He also voiced about a third of the male characters in Fallout New Vegas. That's a little more obvious though, unlike Illidan, the FNV characters mostly sound like his normal speaking voice.
I find it incredible that Critical Role sprung from an intended one shot for Liam's birthday. A soon eight year long journey that's still going, just wow.
It was not the only time it happened. She wasn't the only one. Even Travis made the slip a time or two. Then there's Grog's Dad.... I love these people.
4:20 I remember during the streams the fans gifted the cast with a Appa and Momo plushies, Marsha and Laura reverted to their 10yrs selves, it was adorable
Never knew Vex was the honorary leader, though it makes sense. I never watched the stream, but due to the main plot in the series being Percy's for season 1, I saw him as the one leading the charge in most endeavors.
Vex is the one character (apart from Pike who isn't often around) that every member will actually always listen to- especially Percy who considers her the only other adult in the group. Everyone gets a chance to lead though in their particular stories and Scanlan is definitely the face of the group.
They didn't play it up as much in the animated series, but Vex was frequently the party "face" and ALWAYS the one arguing with all the NPCs for the best deals and quest rewards for the group, she was also the party treasurer and distributed pay.
I wouldn't exactly say she was the leader. Tbh Vox Machina didn't really have a leader like how the Mighty 9 did with Fjord or how Hell's Bells have currently Imogen. Sure Vex could get people to listen to her but when it came to the directions the party took, they all sort of did their own thing
Eh, the og video existed because the game had been running before the stream started. In Campaign 2 and 3 the steam starts with all the info we're supposed to know.
I mean they made these videos because all party members knew each other and had advantures TM9 and Bell's Hells started new. They said it at the begining of C2 ''Fans said why didn't you guys did the same'' they said we are gonna learn about their backgrounds through the campaign and experience it live
If you don't wanna bother watching the stream, you can always watch CritRole Animated Recap.... This narrated story only exists because it wasn't on stream originally. Campaign 2 and 3 arefully available on the internet.
@@KairiRatten Fair. I just think stylistically, it'd be cool. I'd love to see how they introduce themselves like this. I'm still new to Critical Role, but I have caught up on the current state of campaign three. All the references to previous campaigns fly over my head, though. Half the time, I only notice when watching the MarishaRayGun channel's highlight videos on each session.
@@anastasiacaffee4930 If I recall correctly, they called themselves twins from different times. They've the same date for their birthday and both do have L names, so they're not wrong.
That's so cool that you started so early on in the shows founding thank you for sharing. I got started late around ep 60 of campaign two but loved all the funny grog moments so much I when back and watched it all it was really good.
@@sadknight2826 Yeah it was a little weird for me to watch the animated show and not see characters like Tiberius, but I'm not here to chime in on that. I love the show either way and I'm glad to have gotten the chance to see my favorite nerdy ass voice actors all on one show. I really hope it continues it's a shame we didn't get to see places like Vasselheim though. Some of my favorite episodes are when Grog fights the half orc and loses but has his redemption round some time later.
@@shadow60210 Agree I was also sad that we didn't get to see some of the guest characters that were around during this arc but hopeful we get to see them in the next season.
I’ve apparently loved all these guys for a long time as they’re in most of the things I like. I never played DnD but since Eldar Scrolls loved fantasy. I used to listen to Nerd Poker and when this started on Amazon I’m now going into to watch/listen to all the episodes. Ep3, Campaign 1
Oh, so much has been lost due to Legendary not wanting to pay artists, for some reason. The art for this intro AND the recap video for the years of game that happened pre-stream. I have been wishing and hoping for a while that they would fix these. The intro hooked me immediately, and the recap was done with just as much loving attention to detail.
Thank you so much. I found their states on CritRoleStats and choose level 11 because that was their level at the start of the Briarwood Arc. I'm Glad you liked the video and thank you for the comment.
@@Tenderleaf When you roll stats you tend to choose where to put them. Also, Travis has said he intentionally gave Grog an extremely low Int because he had very little experience with ttrpgs and thought that it would make for good roleplay.
the druid being based off avatar korra is kind of neat assuming in that setting much like the forgotten realms the souls of pure blooded elves are reincarnated
I've listened to this track so many times. I feel like it's full of spoilers for the next(few) seasons of LoVM tho. I can forsee many Percy-like flashbacks over the life-time of the series.
Thank you for this video, I’m currently watching the stream of campaign 1 episode 2. So this helps greatly, I have seen the show but want the full story of their campaigns 👍🏾
If you're interested, they also did a comic series with Dark Horse that covers most of the pre-stream events of campaign 1 called Vox Machina: Origins.
Aw, nostalgia! I started listening to CR as a podcast, not realizing there were videos as well. I listened to this soooo many times trying to keep the characters straight 😅
This is a great idea. And you did a great job. I really enjoy LOVM and can't wait for season 2. The original images aren't entirely lost, tho they've removed them from the show. They're on my channel. (For now. Who knows how long til they block me too?) i'm not monetized so I'm hopeful. (For now.) Also ale.
The original opening does exist as a self-contained video in the dark depts of RU-vid. I've seen it. But I won't share the link here because the entire reason why it was blurred out was that CR didn't own the rights to the images used.
There are a lot of spoilers for future TLOVM seasons and for the Campaign 1 as a whole in those "fun facts" segment. You might wanna hide those for new critters who might not know yet.
Yep in Grogs wiki page in the trivia section Travis talks about how he picked Grogs name from his favorite game Monkey Island where the drink Grog was served. thank you for you question sorry if their was any confusion their is limited space to explain in the onion lol.
This, Matt also clarified at one point that when he handed them over to G&S for them to do the animatics they did have attribution footnotes included at the bottom of the images but the G&S overlay had covered them up. Considering that the parent company, Legendary, settled a lawsuit out of court waged against them for violating a contract with with Will Wheaton for similar abuses it doesn't seem entirely unlikely.
That's really cool thanks for letting me know I'm use to the stream ones that are blurred out on the vod but knowing their is a unblurred copy is great I'll have to check it out sometime thank you for letting me know.
Love it. Couple of Notes --- Fact #2 = Fan theory. As far as I know, this was never actually confirmed. Ashley merely mentioned that Pike had a crush at their 1st con panel. Many, like myself, thought the clues of the day lead to Percy. Fact #8 - The Gunslinger was a straight port from Pathfinder, the group's 1st system. Matt is the one who put it up on GM's Guild, but you can't say he is the original designer. Fact #9 - Addendum - Sam talked about Liam picking his character at a con after the "Scanbo Incident". This time he capped the story with a line something like, "And now he's the BEST ONE!" with his signature Cheshire smile.
Just want to point out two things, Ashley did confirm that Pike was in love with Percy before "settling for Scanlan" During the Campaign 1 Wrap Up episode of Talks Machina ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Iit1exv_FYA.htmlh038m033s ) Secondly, I'm not sure it's accurate to call the 5e Gunslinger Archetype a "straight port" as many of the PF1 Gunslinger base class abilities (Nimble, Gun Training, Dares, Daring Acts, ~ half of the Deeds options, and 2 out of 3 Deeds of Renown options) are absent from the 5e version.
@@MilkieFeline well yes 1. Very true. 2. It's because initially it was a port from pathfinder which was then heavily homebrewed by mercer. Initially it was weak af... then percy started rolling like the eldrich god he is and no mercy percy was born.
Thank you for the comment I check the video and I did include pictures of trinket in the back of the video in the section about Vex'ahlia. But since trinket doesn't have his own intro I didn't make an image referencing his states if that's what you mean. Thank you for the comment I hope I was able to address what you were referring to.
Since I used images from the animated series I didn't have anything for his spot plus newer people coming from the animation wouldn't know him causing more question then answers. I will probable do a video on him in the future but since the community has mixed feelings about him I figured I stay out of it for now. Thank you for the question but that's why I left him out sorry about that.
@@sadknight2826 people always give him a hard time. Must be nice to not get diagnosed with cancer, turn to drugs, have your friends abandon you, lose your career... everyone always leaves him out. :(
@@Liecham Oh yeah don't get me wrong he was an awesome role-player, always got into character and had some great moments. I'm kind of sad that they couldn't work something out to get his character acknowledge at least in the first few episodes of the animation. But the critical role team ask people to drop the subject and after the animation people started asking questions again and making videos about it and just reopening old wounds for the players and I'm just trying to respected their wishes. It's not my place to talk about their internal drama and I don't know what all really happened they are messed up stories on both sides from him having cancer to him cheating people out of money so I don't want to play sides or get involved that's their business. His a great player and I really liked his character but It's not my places and as I said they didn't make any animations of him for me to use in the video so I was just trying to keep a simple flow to it and not stir stuff up in the process. Sorry for leaving him out I mean no disrespect I was just trying to respect the crew that make this great show.
People had an issue with Keylith/Marisha because Marisha was playing her as inexperienced and a bit absent minded she stayed in character so much that people assumed it was Marisha's shortcomings not Keylith's.
Thank you for the comment. Sadly the music is a part of the original recording they used on the stream so I can't adjust it. It may be possible to find a better recording of it in one of their streams or somewhere else but sadly I wouldn't know where to find it sorry.
