I think Elite Dangerous could do really well with face tracking for allies. You know like a HUD when they talk like starfox or vox machinae. Other than that, I think any of the new VR MMOs would be better off with it for sure. I did preorder a face tracker already and also will be buying the decagear for my bro.

Aaah, this is awesome, thank you so much for using Neos to showcase it, it's so awesome to see it in a video like this! ^^ You got the hang of things pretty well too! I wish we had more avatars ready with the full face tracking support, I think after a week or two after 3D artists get their hands on the tracker, we'll see a lot more avatars pop up.

Hey! Thank you so much for checking out Neos. I've been playing it for a decent amount of time and it's so much more then a social VR game. It's kind of like if Gmod, VRchat and Second Life had a baby. Neos has so much more interactive elements than VRchat and it's incredibly fun. I really hope it takes off some day because you can do so much more with it.

Would magnets mess with the headset because you could use thin magnetic tape and use that to mount it on so that way it is safely removable

I feel my argument to this is, not everyone will want to buy a whole new headset. like, I just got an Index, I dont really want to get another headset for at least 2 years. So this is an excellent way for me to just buy an upgrade but still use the headset I have :) unless the decagear cost less than the HTC mouth tracker, than they can have my money haha

Someday VR will be the best way to do mocap Finger tracking, full facial tracking, up to about 20-point body fracking etc It would be perfect when there are smaller IR based trackers that can be chained to a single hub

Although, you can use facial tracking using a phone, cleaning up jutter through software after recording It wouldn’t be practical or useful for gaming, but for making moderately cheap setup that can be used for large rooms and basically 0 cameras except a GoPro/phone for your face I hope I get to afford such a setup, doing some mocap acting at home and maybe even animate some models for my own games

This is great, but it doesn't make sense to put it on a headset that doesn't have eye tracking. Most avatars move their mouth when you speak and as she said would need to be rigged to be able to apply the different facial features. Not actually hard to do in Neos VR. Sounds like a wait though even Oculus is trying to add these features. Thanks for the video its was great to see this so fast.

Vive already has enterprise headsets (Vivepro eye, IIRC) that already has eye-tracking and is intended to be used combined with this. It's not cheap though. Decagear is also aiming to have this as well.

@@AdamWhistle1 Yeah it's the headset she used in the review. That it can be used with other HMDs was the point of interest. Though again the companies mentioned have their own plans that will likely be included rather then an extra option. Which sort of makes it moot.

@@CasandChary Definitely, immersion (through stereo3d and later VR, haptics etc.) has been my hobby for a very long time. Life has just got so much more costly last few years that it is harder to find the cash to spend on gadgets. I could probably sell some of my synthesizers though (another exoensive hobby).

Eye tracking as well as mouth tracking is just a gimmick and it won't really take off like people think. What games would you actually use if for except social media games and that isn't for everyone. VRChat is the only one I use but it's not a big deal to track eyes or mouth. I wouldn't even get one until it's under $50 or built into a headset but also when will more than 100 games will ever use the ability.

Hand-tracking was "just a gimmick", too, and look how widely it's used now. Also, VR itself was "just a gimmick once! Any time someone dismisses something out of hand as "just a gimmick", in my experience, they have always been proven wrong in time.

I would argue mouth tracking will become more popular. It allows a lot more expression in games like VRChat (if it eventually is supported). Eye tracking will defiantly be a feature that will be utilized. It will be used primarily for advertising I believe though. Imagine the headset knowing what advertisements you look at and for how long.

@@ianmiller6040 that's the thing people are not using the index that uses it cause there are only a few games where you can use it but it's not needed to play a game. That's why Quest 2 is doing so well without it. It is not something needed to enjoy VR games in single player. In multi-player games it's just OK for more of seeing someone else fully moving but that's if someone else has them not if you do. It's going to be the same way with mouth, eye or even body tracking. It's just for the other people to have a better look at you not for you if others don't have it. Like in a single player game would you want NPCs to see your eyes and mouth moving?

@@paulpjr3224 Some single player games have mirrors and reflective surfaces occasionally allowing you to see your virtual avatar, it would definitely add to the immersion there.
