VR: Game-Changing Tech or Overhyped Gimmick?

Thankfully I don't suffer from motion sickness at all, and turn all "comfort" features off immediately for everything. That might contribute the most to how much more I enjoy VR in comparison. I have both Quest 2 and Quest 3, but mostly use the Quest 3 (Quest 2 for multiplayer) and for PCVR. I use VR every day, and have done so for years now, although not just for gaming or content consumption. I find 3D modelling for 3D printing much quicker and easier in VR. Quest 3 is definitely worth the money over the Quest 2 in my opinion, but mostly for the lenses and dual displays with real IPD adjustment. The improvement in clarity and for reading text is dramatic compared to the Quest 2. The improved Wifi speed, colour passthrough and improvements in the performance are just a bonus (although mixed reality is great for those that suffer from motion sickness). If you grab an upgrade for the stock headstrap, like a BoboVR M2 Pro+, you might find yourself using the headset a fair bit more. Even if you don't think the original is all that bad. I know used the Quest 2 a lot more once I had the halo strap. Not just due to the improved comfort of wearing it and extended battery life, but due to how much quicker and easier it is to take on, off and adjust. A silicon interface is also a huge improvement over the standard cloth. Lastly, a bunch of USB C rechargeable batteries for the controllers also minimise the hassle. With my Quest 3 I bought all those at the same time I ordered it, due to how much of an improvement it made. Overall I'd mostly recommended VR for people that don't suffer motion sickness, have a decent PC, prioritise immersion in their gaming, and are ok with a bit of mucking around (especially for PCVR modding etc) as opposed to plug and play console style gaming. Quest 3 is the headset I'd recommend as the bang for buck winner though, without a doubt.
