Hey guys thanks for stopping by and watching this video ! On the Vr ute here in the United States the ute is actually in Kentucky and has been sitting
almost two years !! It was time to get a move on it I’ve got done really missed driving it around !! This week we go and buy a 1994 Pontiac Bonnieville 3800 engine which is a Buick L27 engine fitted to the VR commodore and other older models it’s pretty much the same engine, but mounted East / West in the Pontiac and fitted to Chevrolet vans Buicks Oldsmobile Pontiac van and cars !! , there were a few traumas along the way but it all worked out ! Also I pulled the Buick engine and transmission out of the Ute and did a quick Comparison between the Two , there will be more videos to come on the difference between the two and swapping the parts over and the installation of the engine into the ute and of course getting it running ! So thanks guy for calling past I appreciate your videos and comments and as usual please like and consider subscribing that would be awesome also check out my Instagram Tri_five_guy 🇦🇺🇺🇸!! Cheers !

With the trans on and the driver's side mount on the block with the power loom trans lines in place you definitely need the trans lines to fit tight around the bell housing and block or the y peice won't fit Put engine in on the driver's mount put both but on loose but on Then with the left hand mount drop it in the K frame position the motor to line up the rear of the 3 bolts then lift the rear up pivoting on the rear bolt till the front bolt fits in Other wise you have to use a pry bar to get the mounts in and usually damage them badly

Hey man it’s probably been said but those wires at ecu is to disassemble the injectors when it’s running on gas just join matching colours u will be fine and best way to deal with engine mounts is take the ac pump off and take three bolts off and take the bracket out And re install later Definitely install with the box on See the little coolant pipe that goes to the heater tap on the back of the Aussie engine be careful with that little plasic fitting they break easily some times just driving along When you come to straya grab a heater tap they like to snap a pipe off them so grab a spare one And that plastic fitting on the intake I said brakes we have brass replacement ones so try and track that one down aswell I think Repco sell them I would also suggest bringing your key with you and get a second key made as you cannot replace the battery inside it and if it fails u can’t turn the immobiliser off ( bcm disables crank and ecu disables injectors) (mace engineering also do vats deleted memcals) but a second key would be a must as you wouldn’t get one over there let alone coded Also be careful with the powersteering return hose witting to the res aswell they like to snap off playing with the hose clamp Also an issue these Utes have is the top breather hose for fuel take cracks and falls apart so if you smell fuel in the cab that’s were it’s coming from Sorry it’s long but hope this helps I have 8 of these Utes haha

After 16 years, General Motors’ Australian arm Holden is scheduled to build the last Buick-designed 3.8-litre pushrod ‘Ecotec’ V6 at its engine plant in Port Melbourne next week. Holden Engine Operations workers will complete the last engine, which will be framed for display at the Fishermans Bend factory, on Friday August 6. Production of the pushrod V6, dubbed ‘Ecotec’ for its last few years of production, is being wound down to make way for new, overhead camshaft ‘Alloytec’ V6 engines (from GM’s new global V6 engine family), which will soon be launched in Australia in the facelifted VZ Commodore model line. Holden has been building the new V6s for export since late 2003 and recently commenced production for its locally-built cars. More than 1.4 million of the previous V6 engines have been produced at Port Melbourne since 1988 for both domestic and export use. Cars with the Australian V6s have been shipped to the Middle East (where the Commodore is sold as the Chevrolet Lumina), Asia, South Africa, South America and New Zealand. The original Buick-designed engine, first built in Australia in 1988, was upgraded in 1995 to increase performance and efficiency and a supercharged variant was developed in 1996. While US-made versions were for years installed in front-drive GM-brand cars, all the Holden-made units were adapted for the rear-drive Commodore models. “Ecotec was a fantastic engine that was able to provide great power and efficiency over a number of years. It was also able to be refined to ensure less exhaust emissions without diminishing performance,” a Holden spokesman said.

Had a mate put a 5.0 304 throttle body on the old VN Buick V6 and it seemed to go particularly hard for what it was back in the early 2000s .. it liked to roast the tyres with a welded diff from take off but he likely had shorter gears in it aswell.

Only real difference I can see is the dip stick location side of the block normally blocked off on a vr being a front bowel sump and the dip stick going in the front Other thing would be to see if the cam angle sensor in the timing cover is the same below the water pump above the harmonic balancer

Most components for the Aussie assembled V6s were from GM Canada. I think that included the blocks but not sure. That random sensor floating around looks like its snapped off of the oil filter housing.

@Hitman-ds1ei
@Hitman-ds1ei Год назад
Same basic trans internals but only enough to do the job but like all 4l60e or 700r4 they are upgradeable to pretty much 4L70-E tow haul spec using GM parts or wayyyy beyond using Aftermarket stuff like Sonnax etc, I've built a 4l60e out VY to 4L70-E towhaul spec and put in my jackaroo as they are same bolt pattern bellhousing as 3.5L isuzu motor with a silverado 4x4 output shaft same spline as jackaroo transfer case running electronics on 4l60e off original ECU with a couple of tweaks and L67 VS supercharger as the original 4l30e are barely up to the task and more expensive to rebuild

@@Hitman-ds1ei yeah I’m talking to a transmission guy now he’s gonna upgrade mine with a sonnax or beast sun shell a few other parts too

You should put 5 pinion planetaries and 7 clutch pack with towhaul rear bearing upgrade at minimum as parts all the same as V8 so when do an LS just swap over then towing and bigger HP not an issue, I've also used Sonnax front drum reinforcement and billet over run hub because of 4wding and increased engine braking while towing, I wish I could get parts as readily and cheap as over there and I would have put 6 pinion planetaries and billet shafts from Sonnax but soon expensive here would be just a luxury 😀
