Fan of the best cars ever made 55-56-57 Chevrolet’s but I have interest in other GM and ford cars as wells as Mopars also Japanese mini bikes I also love Australian built Holden and fords !!
Doing my first set of rockers on my 04 F-350 with the same cab next week. This video for sure helped with some of the nerves I’ve got about doing it. Although, i do have to replace a bit of the front section close to the fender as well as the floor support and ends. This video gave me the most detail and better idea of the job
Hey Mike as in The video the car was supplied with the wheel tubs though they where in there crooked and uneven I removed them clean them up positioned them correctly and welded them in but they are these exact ones listed here i supplied a part number Summit Racing™ Rear Fenderwells SUM-G7910 Thanks for watching !
So good to see your videos, I don't know why youtube hasn't been giving me notifications but so happy to see you're still going and doing amazing work and getting the house done 🤘🇦🇺
It’s come up amazing mate, you sure are a very talented bloke and I enjoy watching your videos. Before becoming a paraplegic 8 and a half years ago I used to buy cars, do them up, mechanicals, panel and paint, enjoy them for a few months or so before selling and finding something else to the same to. My painting was nothing on your level but they came up pretty good for being self taught. I’m still trying to do the same kind of thing these days but I’m extremely limited by the wheelchair
Are you heading back to America tomorrow? At least you have another house in America where your other cars are alongside. Your VR Commodore ute. Stay safe out there and take care. From William.
I’ve been back 5 days now got a little to do on the house and start doing a brake conversion on the VR putting the GTO brakes that GMH sent here on the front Thst will be the next video cheers
Getting my wind lace made right now at a Reputable upholstery shop now. I pulled my headliner out and it does not have the cardboard attached ? Fellow at shop said he can sew it on for me but needs to know where to sew it . From what I see on your video it looks to be held in about 3/4's of an inch and stitched a crossed the inside of the head liner ,maybe only 1/2 inch ?. I need to know how far to hold the stitching back so I have enough to tuck into the 57 rear windshield rubber ? can you give me a measurement on the stitching ? Thanks ,George
What sort of paint do you use ? Is it acrylic & do you apply a clear coat over the base coat ? The reason I am asking is even when we've painted cars with acrylic paint & even with a hi flow gravity fed paint gun it leaves an orange peel finish which need a lot of sanding back with 1200-1500 grit wet and dry sandpaper !
So on a car like the VK I try to mimic the way holden did it at the time so no base and clear coat coz it’s a soild color on this rebuild it’s De beer BeroMix 2000 Series it’s a two-component finishing system it really good mate I turn up the pressure a-little. And hit it harder on the second coat the first coat I hit it less and let it really tack up and as I said turn it up for the second just becareful
G'day, finally a good channel where things are done right!! It's looking real good! What paint system are you using? Also, because you explain everything very clearly, could you think about doing a video on how to prepare and paint a panel with what products to use and not to use? Do you use fillers on top of epoxy only ect..? Cheers and take the rest of the day off 🇦🇺
Hey, thanks! It’s De Beer BeroMix 2000 Series is a two-component finishing system I do use filler on epoxy but if it on longer Thst a couple days I like to give it a 80 grit scratch I was actually thinking of doing a video on how I would epoxy prime -repair -polyester-sand- surfacer prime sand and paint cheer and thanks for watching !
Enjoying this build series, great content! On the headlights I’d keep them all original, the aftermarket’s have leaked water every time in my experience. With the headlight clips I had the same issue, mine were rusty and couldn’t buy new. I just wire wheeled them and repainted silver and they look good now.
Looking good brother the owner should be thankful your rebuilding that car she's going to be like new again. Keep up the great work see you on the next one👍🏻
The clips on the head lights from factory they are silver remove the clips clean them up and paint them silver don’t replace the head light body with the Chinese junk use the original ones the look better and fit better
The housing look a little Beatin though about the clips and painting them silver but they look just like that , painted I know it’s not 💯 accurate but if I try to get it close would look nicer
You could get the clips zinc plated if it wasn't for the 40 year old housings, the problem with the aftermarket housings from what my dads old neighbour who was a panel beaters & spray painter over 20 years ago is that their quality wasn't as good as the headlights that Holden made. I'm speaking about the Commodores in general, not just the VK headlights, at the time were were discussing my VL Commodore which still has the OEM headlights which I fitted brand new from Holden over 20 years ago. I know that I ordered a Taiwanese 3D printed tail lights for my VY SS Commodore last year which I was happy with !
