The VRP intake pipes do look better than the stock OEM. However, aluminum (or any other metal) will hold more heat than the OEM plastic/silicone pipes causing the intake air temperature to rise which decreases performance. This was proven in a supercharged jaguar xf video on RU-vid using a mina performance aluminum intake. I experienced this on my 98 eagle talon as well, metal intake raised the intake temperature 110° over stock so went back to factory. I will not make that mistake on my 2013 S550.
Yo brother from the South Carolina Coast. Just ordered the air intake tubes from VRP Speed for my CLS 550 4Matic. 7/29/22 On sale $225 ( reg $280 ) so I grabbed them. Putting in the K&N air filters tomorrow and as I said in previous posts on your channel, going for a stage 2 ECU tune in 2 weeks, can't wait. Will push it to 540hp and 715 pounds o torque ! That's some serious power for $1800 PresserTech outside of Atlanta. Mail the ECU to them they have it back in 2 days...
That’s nice man! You got a great deal on those intake tubes! That thing is gonna be a beast in the streets. Not bad at all for a $1800 tune. Enjoy and let me know how it goes!
There is a reason Mercedes used flimsy flexible tubes here. Once your engine mounts go bad, sturdy tubes and hose fittings won't give enough and will disconect. After 10 - 12 years there is no shame replacing those OEM tubes although I would have used rubber hoses instead of fabric. At least you did not replace the very well designed intake system for a "cool air intake"...
That makes some sense, these aluminum intake pipes have some play where their not that tight. Also a reason for them to design them that way. Another reason I don’t like the fabric tunes is because they breath and release cold air and suck in hot air. Just not my thing that’s y I went with these
Maybe when the motor mounts wear out on your 10-12 year old car and these 'cool air intake' pipes disconnect then it's a hint that you need to change your mounts before you damage the rest of your driveline... 👍 Being really petty here, they design those out of fabric as it's cooler charge than steel with the thought it may outlast a piece of plastic... If MB was 'perfect' they wouldn't make plastic turbo lines and plastic thermostats... This is a good mod and there is plenty of flex in them. 👍
You’re right , but you talk too quickly, I can see your logic , but don’t talk about s product if you never had too play with it , This kit comes with rubber pieces for flexibility and those pipes have aren’t super tight , you actually have room and once you clamp it all in place correctly, its 👌
@Redlineracinggarage Can you trust aftermath vs oem... excuse my ignorance. Weight safety? I really want to get different wheels but oem 4,500 I found beautiful aftermarket 1,350 Sls black ...
@@Redlineracinggarage I tried everything it’s so strange. Can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Has to be the right part. Anyways you can send a video of you connecting yours? This one didn’t show that. Mine perfectly line up meaning it’s not wide enough to huge around the fitting.
@@Redlineracinggarage I have the rattle/knocking sound for the first 5-10 seconds on a cold start or if the car has been sitting for 1-2hrs. From what I found the cause of the issue is faulty camshaft adjuster. I'm planning to replace them on my own because shops want like 5k+ to replace those. Is your sound similar to the one in this video? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QO5TcQBOhJM.html
@@Redlineracinggarage OHHHHH, my bad lol mine were held on by 4 screws on my e class so i was assuming the cls would be the same. i assumed wrong lol my bad😅
