Good job Matt! I was thinking the same thing about that T4 turbo covering that higher HP range, and how not that long ago a T4 doing that was unheard of. I am glad you did an honest side by side comparison, that helps a lot. Do you feel it had a little more left with some more fuel?
Would never make more than a cheap genuine s475 ... will spool earlier , but will just blow tires off ... good for 5-700 rwhp cars , beyond that it will make more but is out of turbine and not efficient
@@batdad187 like i said not efficient , diminishing returns and pushes motor harder with the backpressure. good to operate the turbo in its efficiency range. much easier on motor
I’ve heard of some folks setups not liking ignition timing but have never have researched into why. Would be interested if you figure that out one of these days.
So how are the guys at the paving company recovering from the fire? Insurance taking care of everything? I've been curious about that for awhile now. Hope they're up and going again soon!
@@SloppyMechanics That sounds mostly like good news. Please send our regards (assuming all of the viewers here are pulling for them) and keep us updated. It's just not the same without paving equipment in the background!
So going from a 3” exhaust to a 4” dump didn’t have a major part in this power increase? I’ve seen people pick up 50hp from a 3” open dump from a 3” full exhaust.
How much did you scale this tune? I noticed the cylinder airmass is still within a decent numerical range so it's definitely a sweet spot whichever scale factor you chose 👍
not sure, say its 2gcyl ill knock it back 50% since its roughly 2x higher than 1.20... but if that is medium boost i need to pre-emptively knock it farther. sometimes ill just kick it 20% at a shot till its under, and if it goes slightly over g at max boost i dont worry too much
Hey Matt, if my goal was 550hp at the tire, could I use a smaller turbo for faster spool or would the billit 7875 be optimal? At that level would 2.5 od cold side be better than 3 inch (velocity)?
@@alexstromberg7696 but would it spool signifigantly faster than the billit 7875 already mentioned, if so at what rpm say on a stock LM4 (P) 5.3 with SUM-8706, 226/230 113+4, .600/.575 Lift, 3-bolt 7k rpm cam used with pac 1218's .600 max lift or possibly L92 (8) same setup? Matt talks like the regular (cast) 4845 is pretty punchy and the billit a little more so. If the lag time isn't much more reduced then it wouldn't be worth leaving this proven setup.
I'm getting ready to do a gen 2.5 billet on my piston and rod LS1 w/a small blower cam. I'm hoping cam isn't going to be a restriction, and the car will make enough power to get into mid 9's, with a/c still. Really looking forward to this, hopefully I'll be able to get it tuned... do you guys recommend anyone? I do have hp Tuners.. also, how's that fuel system setup? I'm trying to not have to run a external regulator, if I don't have to, but already being on e85, my pump will probably be limiting my power, until I upgrade. Thanks guys!
Is this turbo physically bigger or will it go right in its place? How much modification is needed to fit it if I have a regular billet 7875? Wish you could have set them side by side. I was thinking about getting one but that’s my hang up. I was wondering if it’ll fit. How’s it spool compared also?
I went from an on3 7875 to the vs 7875 v2 and the exhaust is a different size(you will need the flange and to build a new dump) and it moved the outlet to the intercooler over like an inch. I still have to make another elbow from the outlet to the intercooler because of that. Hope that helps
Why is there such a power drop towards the ends of the graph? (Almost losing close to 90whp at 140MPH? What’s the boost curve looking like? Is it due to cam? Manifold? Turbo running out of stem?
if your buddy Andrew does decide to install termx pnp in concert with the factory ecu.....that could be very helpfull info for dorks like me that have no right attempting it.
That looks damn solid, Sloppy.....and fits nicely in that fairly tight bay. Would love to see a bigger injector run followed by a slightly less “daily driver” cam in it....just for science 🧬
How about that the 80 with the T-4? You do any testing on that one? Seems like a winner I got the one you had on your white truck I believe the T-6 billet 80 ? I can tell you it lights off quick! Definitely a fun ride !
What do you think about this turbo on a 400ci sbc to run 12-14 psi in a street car? Would backpressure be reasonable at this level? I'm leaning toward just doing a billet t6 s480 but that will be a lot of rework.
How did this gen 2 hold up thinking of going with a vsr 6262. But if the turbo isn’t a solid dependable turbo I rather go with an hx35. Did this turbo get any shaft play metal shredding etc?
There's 3 different turbine wheels available for the s475 making it an awesome versatile turbo for many V8s. But ya gotta know which one you want and how much power you want.
What cam and springs is he running? (Sorry if you say what they are in the video my adhd won’t let me watch the whole thing without skipping to the good parts lol)
its been 9.74@142. If i dropped a couple hundred pounds out of it its a 8 second truck. As its sits it weighs 3890 with me in it, that's a/c and all the creature comforts.
This truck sounds like your getting out of it at 4500rpm. The mustang sounds like it hitting 7500 when you let out! Funny how completely different the sound.
Less cubic inches, less exhaust backing up the turbo and hotside, giving the turbo the capability to produce more power. Look at 2jz engines making 1200+ hp with small to med size turbo by V8 standards.
@@justin_parks I was just thinking that different engines like that are over head cam and are just a more efficient engine which results in more power, or less power loss.
sorry for my ignorance i'm still using an hx40 on a 3.5L and i'm not up to date but isn't the vs racing turbos china turbos? is china turbos ok now? These prices are incredibly cheap.
