I think that there's a gap in the market for a heavy Nerf shotgun. A possible concept for one would be using an 18 dart cylinder that fires three darts at a time. Imagine the old Dart Tag Fury Fire blasters on steroids.
I have not gone over to Rival blasters but I feel balls and darts dont mix. So I will vote off dart blasters. I have both the Rough Cut and Sledgefire. Sledgefire is just the most awesome. I love shotguns in video games and so I am a huge fan. I feel the Sledgefire just feels so "real" with its shells and 3 dart blast. Rough Cut is cool also but reminds me of a futuristic shotgun like it was taken from Gears of War.
Frank, I agree with your findings, however I will say that modifications I have seen for the Sledgefire and Roughcut have decreased their spread a significant amount, allowing the blasters to be used at longer ranges.
I like the sledgefire. But The Atlas is my favourite. You can actually prime the Atlas after the first time you primed it and that way, you can shoot 4 balls which increases the spread.
There's a way to split the darts from the Barrel Break. Also it has a Elite varient, to slit the darts press the trigger halfway to fire 1 then press it fully for the 2 one. I have owned one before so I know this, keep it in mind.
you can half way pull the barrel break to fire 1 shot, I can understand the confusion because it is hard to accomplish but it is possible so it was worth mentioning.
I really like the "Shotgun" Class, and I never could figure out what "Shotgun" to buy. This video shed some light on my situation. Thanks! I wonder what it would be like to have a flywheel shotgun...
I know this is done mostly as an analysis for stock and it does a good job of it. But in terms of mod potential, you may change your mind: Barrel Break: The most you can do is probably replacing the barrels with air tanks. Otherwise, practically none. Atlas: Comes with basically no lubrication stock. Improvement of air seal and lubrication help make it much nicer, sanding down a few ribs to make reloading easier, increased spring load is questionable since it runs on gears, but I would smooth everything down before shoving more spring in. Sledgefire: Stock spring is very beefy, can easily handle increased spring loads with no reinforcement. Barrel can be singled and spring power increased for monstrous FPS and a shotgun effect can still be achieved by shoving more darts in. An HPA conversion also significantly improves the stock power to very usable levels. Rough Cut: Just about none. Heavier springs strip its gears. Still a decent secondary stock. Double-Dealer: Replace spring with 5kg OMW Longstrike spring, improve air seal, and remove locks. Will still jam every now and then, but works beautifully.
Correction Frank: I own a Barrel Break and if pulled correctly; the trigger CAN single shot out of each barrel. (The thing sucks without spring upgrades btw, so I don't recommend it for nerf wars unless modded thusly...)
u can slip the fire in the barrel break!! a friend use to have it and if u press the half of the triger shoots only 1 dard, is pretty easy to shoot it this way and safe dards… and reloads
I think the Roughcut is the best for your money as it cheaper than most of them and it's pretty versatile, plus it's a front loader, it can't jam, get that toast away, that's for the Double Dealer.
Hey Frank? The Barrel Break can fire one dart at a time. You do it in the same way as the Roughcut. I've had one for years and have never modded it, and it can fire each shot independently.
hey coop first off great video. while technically not a "shotgun" by the definition you gave, the new Rival Artemis solves most of the cons of the atlas. its compact, shorter then a Zeus, it has a 30 round internal mag that looks really easy to reload on the fly, and has slam fire.
So there was a hasbro meeting... "Right. We're going to create a new nerf blaster for the doomlands line." "Ok. We'll take the rampage and… er... another rampage. We'll give it a longshot stock and we'll call it something to do with the word double."
Coop you made a minor error. The Barrel Break does indeed have a staged trigger. It is not the easiest to do one a half trigger pull and not accidentally do a full trigger pull, but it is there.
14:57 to when Coop772 broke the Double-Dealer, which in my defense is pretty funny, he just had rage! He even added a rage face on his face! 😆 Stupid idea Coop!
I actually used a Deploy several years ago, and it performed fine for me out of the box. Other than age getting to it, I personally don't see a problem with it. Of course, this may be just me.
Coop! I like the sledge fire because its fun and makes nerfing interesting, though it can kind of suck some times too. :( But I still like it. I need to put a beefier spring in mine because it doesn't shoot as far as I'd like.
The barrel break is worth it just for that ammo holder attachment you don't have, you can put it in much better blasters, like say the rough cut, and it has exactly enough for a full reload. also you can totally fire one at once on the barrel break you just have to be very subtle.
