Hi, I've just bought and tested an other Fazioli VST from PSound. This one is authorized by Fazioli and sold at 60 euros during sales! The aural patch is very good.

This is why vsl stage b pianos are my favourite, they can really sound like you're sitting behind a real life grand and my all time favourite is the synchron 280vc It's just beautiful❤ i love it This one is a very good addition though, i think I'm gonna buy this one as well And i really really hope they sample an amarican steinway d in the stage b, it'll be the finest (i promise😅) And lots of thanks to you simeon, it's been a pleasure watching you review all of these amazing instruments, you've been so helpful❤

I have to admit that I do not like the sound of this piano VST, especially in F2-E3 range. I compared it with Bosendorfer 280VC in pieces such as J.S. Bach Prelude BWV 939 and 846, Tchaikovsky’s Sick Doll and other pieces (Burgmuller’s Arabesque, Schumann’s Wild Rider and a few other). Eric Satie’s Gymnopedie No.1 sounds nice but I decided to remove my sample copy of Fazioli F212 Thank you for your review, Michael Ps. The acoustic piano that I regularly play is Yamaha C7 so perhaps it is why Fazioli F212 is just too “dull” for me

Thank you for your insightful feedback. It is a gift to be able to have this level of awareness of an instrument that I truly admire. This is one of the reasons I also appreciate VSL for providing the opportunity of having a period to try an instrument of this magnitude in order for the individual musician to determine if it is indeed the right one for them. Also, the Synchron Piano engine has a lot of depth where, if you had the notion to dive deep under the hood and adjust certain aspects of the piano's voicing and response on a per note level. This allows the individual to further tailor their experience. I realize this to may have limitations due to the voicing of the physical piano itself. There has been some discussion about how the owner of the piano preferred a certain voicing, resulting in the current state of this particular piano. And, yes, the 280VC is quite the piano. My dececed wife was a music teacher who taught the blind and partially sighted pupils piano and braille piano and when she was young her father bought her a Fritz Khula piano which also had the Stienway key mechanism. That was not the thing of impotance but it has an incredible sound board and if I play for example middle c sticcato it takes 15 seconds for the sound to fade away. I find that I am so used to its beutiful sound that by comparison when I test many pianos in this way they sound dead. I love your demos. Regards. Andre from SA

That was one of the things I noticed about this piano, it seems that it would sustain for quite a while. I mentioned in the video how painstaking it must be to record so many notes and velocity layers while allowing each note to ring out to its fullest potential. It is always wonderful to see you. Hi Simeon, I have serious lag issue with VSL piano VST… I’m wondering can I laptop handle the VSL VST ? and the digital interface connection between the Keyboard + laptop, what’s the optimal requirement ? I simply don’t want the lag and interruption when playing fast and chord passages

Ooo, yeah, the Synchron pianos in general require things to be fairly optimal. For storage VSL recommends running from an NVME SSD to get the best transfer speeds. Also each mic position you add exponentially affects performance so for me I track using a single mic position and then when mixing I increase my buffer size a little and start adding mic positions. Sometimes to optimize the mixing side I might render a different mic position to an audio track to help free up performance overhead. Would you mind sharing the specs of your laptop? It might be possible but not easily done. What I have seen is that you have to run sone sort of emulation like WINE to run non Linux specific applications.

How do you usually set the velocity curve for your keyboard? Any suggestions? I have a kawai vpc1

I find that the SL88: Grand can almost be too soft and I experiment with creating a little convex bump in the middle of the velocity curve. With the Synchron Pianos Player, It seems MIDI Sensitivity is a quick way to dial up the curve to make sure you are taking advantage of the full dynamic range of your controller. I sometimes start off at the extremes and then dial things in from there. That gives you contrast in hearing what the settings are actually doing. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for this video Simeon. Really like the tone of this piano at lot for Jazz, Pop and classical music. One thing I noticed is there seems to be a fair amount of noise/hiss in the samples? I’ve also heard the octave of notes from F2 to F3 are less responsive and sound muted compared to the rest of the notes? Did you experience this? Also, what are your thoughts on this compared to Ivory 3? Will be downloading the demo of this one for sure 👍🏻

Hello Richard, so glad you enjoyed watching. I did find this piano had a nice signature tone to it, and in the Studio B environment puts it in a wide variety of use cases. I had not noticed anything out of the ordinary regarding noise and such, but I get lost in things so of course I could miss something. I had a segment on the livestream where I ran the piano through iZotope Insight's spectrum analyzer and it would have definitely shown any extraneous noise. I would be curious to know what part of the video you experienced the noise; I could go back and pull up the preset I was using and take a look with Insight to see what might be going on. Also, by downloading the demos you can experience the piano yourself which is truly the best way to discover if it is something you would enjoy. Thanks again for the kind support. Joyfully yours!

I pulled up my livestream project and tracked down the source. It seems that the Privia PX-S7000 was injecting some noise into the project, almost like a room tone. I pulled up Insight and muted the various tracks and there it was, something like a low level room tone. So I checked the gain staging on this and now for future things it will not be an issue. This is another instance of being so close to something that it is hard to catch details like there. Thanks my friend for the help!
