I love the pace of this video, not too fast, not too slow. I also appreciate that you don't use the "epic expedition narrator voice"! I learn a lot from hearing your thoughts on how to approach each section.. Great work, love your channel!

Zack, this is an awesome video! Do have any videos of the Illinois at higher flows. 3-4k cfs or higher? Would love to check those out and get your take on the river at a those higher levels. Cheers!

As you pass by Buzzards Roost dam site near the end of the run, think about what it would have looked like as a lake. I believe the dam license was stopped at the end of Jimmy Carters term before being added to Wild and Scenic in 1984.

Do you mind explaining about hitting some areas that look like rapids sideways?
@GearGarageTV
@GearGarageTV 2 года назад
Its sometimes easier to maneuver when you’re sideways

Rapid #51 is florance creek rapid, I think.

Florence Creek comes in just above the one we call Wallbanger #2 so my guess is the one we call Wallbanger #2 is the one you've heard called Florence Creek Rapid. I've never heard that name for it - thanks for sharing.

You're probably right, I usually get a little lost between klondike and pink rock. Also have heard a friend call it alphabet soup. Think she was referring to the lettering of holes and rocks in the handbook.

I just finished 3 four day trips and saw a total of 5 kayakers on those trips. There is room for more people to enjoy the Illinois River.
