Mumei is not a psychopath, she is just always Moomin

I think the reason it works so well for Mumei is because at all times she somehow manages to exist in a quantum superposition between literally the cutest thing you've ever seen who you would die to protect and completely unhinged and you never know which you're gonna get. I haven't seen any other vtuber hit that combination before because it's probably pretty much impossible to pull off as naturally as she does, I think she just actually is that weird. I remember when she first debuted I thought she was the cutest thing and was just watching her first drawing stream expecting some cute anime doodles or something, but instead out of nowhere and for seemingly no discernible reason she just paints a hyper realistic screaming peacock, I was so taken aback.

Honestly the reason why Mumei is so great is because she's basically the personification of "intrusive thoughts". Except unlike most people she is 100% willing to give voice to such thoughts.

the best psychopatch action made by Mumei is when she said to Calli: "Dont tell anybody about this", the way she changed her cute voice to her normal voice was so great.

Honestly, Mumei really does encapsulate the quote from postal redux. “Population pressure and the stress of modern life may cause an increase in violent tendencies. The urban environment is the incubator for all sorts of undesirable behaviors.”

Mumei went from "Must protecc" to "Somebody help me" real quick

The funny thing about Mumei in particular is that people who first watched her were probably interested because "Oh, what an adorable little birb, am I right?", while fans of her are completely aware of the juxtaposition Mumei displays, sometimes unintentionally. The contrast is startling.

My favorite iteration of this trope is Jerma985. He plays the character so well that sometimes it feels like he's going to break into my house at any minute and kill me when I'm not looking, it's awesome. Also I love his model and design, probably the most expressive and lifelike Vtuber model imo.

As an Owl Pal, I can confirm that I feel endangered when I watch Mumei's streams. I know that we're all humans at the end of the day, but there's this primal fear inside me that's worried she'll reach through the screen and steal my teeth.

Mumei is the perfect combination of adorable and horrifying. She's adorifying. Cheerful and cute, while still tickling that sense of atavistic terror when she looks in your general direction.

Rushia is a perfect example of why this trope is so appealing, from pandering to the gachikoi in a yandere way and those reactions to being called a cutting board on a table top, it's basically high risk high reward. Phase Connect's brand image is basically revolved around menhera psychopaths too. We all want things we can't handle, haha.

That's why "saiko" and psycho sounds alike. Mumei captures that borderline cute imouto and menace of society really well its fcking amazing. You will watch her doing one of the cutest things for a moment the she will hit you a "whoa thats dark" moment lol. Those moments are one of the best

I know many will agree with my opinion. Mumei is one of the vtubers whose existence I appreciate. Without her, we would never have heard her beautiful voice, her singing, and her excellent design, which I consider one of the best designs on Hololive and vtubers in general.

Finally the time has come for my oshi to shine. Also, I really liked the speech about separating fiction from reality in the beginning of the video, precisely because it's something I always say but usually it's not something widely accepted by people. That is until I made the analogy with the case of video games, it is harder for people not to accept that fiction does not influence reality when there are hundreds of researches done around video games to prove it.

It's quite difficult to judge whether someone is a psychopath or not just from their live streams because there aren't enough data and paramaters to show, including brain scans, but i think Moom and Suipiss fits the catagory of psycho perfectly lol. On the other side of the coin, irl Rushia (Mikeneko or Nazuna) fits the category of sociopath rather than psycho, while Pekora only shows gimmicks. 🤣

I've never really been fond of yandere's in anime and whatnot because I continuously think of how traumatizing they'd actually be IRL, so immersing myself in place of the self-insert character has always been a struggle (though the occasional "yandere" moment from otherwise non-yandere characters are great) but I think the "natual psychopath" vtubers have made me develop a little more fondness for that kinda thematic trope, cuz they bring out a good balance of cutesy and terrifying that kinda makes the "yandere" aspects also cutesy in their own twisted way, with them being part of the overall "character" rather than just genuinely mortifying actions

Hmm tbh I expected Korone in here. As she is a mix of played up and some genuinely "weird" things she says/or has an opinion of that seem natural to her. When she threatens someone it feels like she seriously means it (as she probably can legit kick ass). Her interest in dark and macabre stuff and her fear of horror stuff at the same time, while also being naturally cute and childish, is probably the best contrast Holo has in a member.

One of the properties of a psychopath is the lack of reaction towards fear. This is genuinely what Mumei has and she demonstrated this plenty of times during horror game collabs. Suisei otoh I think is more of a sociopath since despite her wrathful energy she still demonstrated fearfulness in plenty of things. Her overpowering her fear and turning it into wrath may also be a factor of her sociopathy. This is just my observation.

Mumei, yes. I don't know who or what is being done behind the scenes, but whatever is being done, is working. Mumei is somehow NATURALLY cute and terrifying. The fact that her character represents civilization is perfect. And the moomin is only getting bigger since she is closing in on 1 million subs. She somehow overtook all of council in a short time. I was sure that either IRyS or Kronii would reach 1 million after Myth, but I think Mumei might just be the first after Myth.
