This is an awesome explanation of the Diverter Valve. Thank you. I had my diverter valve replaced due to P0299 under boost code. It was replaced with the "D" version. No more codes!

So status check. How'd that D work for you long term? LOL Did you feel like the car was dead before 2K RPMs?

This video helped me understand what the diverter valve does more completely. Additionally, I learned that Piersburg is an original equipment manufacturer for VW . My VW mechanic is replacing my 9 year old C diverter with a Pierburg D piston style diverter this week. (Ok plus a leaking timing cover, water pump, thermostat housing and timing chain. Oh and they're decarboning the intake valves and manifold). Its a 2013 with 103k miles, an APR Stage 1 chip , Bilstein B6 upgraded and 1.5" lifted suspension and oversize Michelin Defenders on 18 x 8" CC wheels giving another .8 inches of lift. The Forge front lift spacers created problems and I had to take the front suspension apart and take them off. The rear spacers work great and they give the car a slight rake forward, which looks really good. After CV boots and other front steering repairs this Tiguan looks like it may become a long term utility and around town truck. It drives like a GTI on stilts with more power and grip. Fantastic stuff. Will ...Austin, Tx

In A6 C6 2.0TFSI I had old version C. I replace it for version D and sound of turbo is completly difference... Turbo is quieter and sound is without hum when I accelerate - it is much more pleasure for driver's ear ;) In my case membrane was ok but the pin was not taking open the valved - pin was grated... It was orginally valve in almost 250000 km.

WG wasn't probably adjusted to the correct voltage on installation and the owner more likely swapped the old IS20 DV onto the IS38; thus, getting a turbo swap for absolutely as cheap as they could. But, they sure paid for it later more than they would have up front didn't they? 👍

And so, how did you resolve the issue ? I have a stage 3 RS6 C7 that doesn't make the boost it's supposed to (2.6 instead of 3bar) and the power is almost the same as when I was stage 1. that looks a bit the same as what you describe in the start. thank you

There is a version J now. Do you know the difference between D and J?
@MeisterWerks
@MeisterWerks 3 года назад
Ver J (06H145710J) has a thicker reinforced sealing ring around the piston. Probably because this is where they start leaking, which is what causes them to fail.

After vigorous research - there is actually an UPGRADED C version which has the newer piston! See below: OEM: 06H145710C MPN: 7.02901.05.0 (Old C version is 7.02901.01) By Pierburg Genuine Pierburg OEM diverter valve. Features the upgraded piston type design, modeled after the more robust aftermarket diverter valves. The old DV is prone to failure, regardless of if your car is stock or chipped, as the fragile diaphragm can rupture under boost pressure, resulting in a boost leak that will hinder your car's performance. This is the ideal solution for anyone who want to upgrade their car with a stronger OEM diverter valve. Made in Germany by Peirburg. Link for this info: www.europaparts.com/diverter-valve-06h145710c.html D version has the upgraded piston to, but also has the extra fence around it, not sure what that is for!

@MeisterWerks 4 года назад
Yes. This is covered in the video, thus the Old Ver C / vs New Ver C. There is no different in pison or output size on new Ver D or C.
@JH-sc7cs
@JH-sc7cs 4 года назад
@@MeisterWerks this video was very helpful to allow me to find a most upgraded C! Though the C version shown in your video has the Pierburg MPN 7.02901.01 - but now the latest REV C with the New Piston has the MPN: 7.02901.05.0! I might be wrong, but seems like the version C shown in your video is a non-revised C, but yet better than those older crappy versions.

Would a diverter valve spacer paired with a revised c dv from Peinburg be a good set up or will it cause stress on the turbo for a Mk7 equipped with an IS20
@MeisterWerks
@MeisterWerks 6 месяцев назад
I don't think it's going to make any difference. I know that Unitronic says you don't need those DV adapter kits, like the one that Go Fast Bits makes. However, we sell them and they are more for longevity than performance. Also - do not use a blow off valve on VAG vehicles. There is a difference between a Blow off valve and a diverter valve. Blow off valves will actually cause your car to run worse that just the stock OEM DV. Blow off valves vent to atmosphere and do not recharge the air intake that goes back into the turbo. When you have a DV, it recycles the excess released air pressure back into the intake. Thus spooling the turbo faster. In a nut shell, if you have a blow off valve, your going to have more turbo lag. So always make sure you have a DV kit if you get an adapter. When ever we tune a turbo vehicle with a blow off valve it noticeably runs worse. I've performed these tunes hundreds of times and when I test drive after - I can always tell that it's not a DV. I tell the customer they have to go back to stock for it to perform better. The only real difference between the Ves C & D is the plunger on the end. The Go Fast Bits DV kit has a billet plunger so it will not wear out. If you use a Ver C or D with a GFB DV kit, it's going to work the same.

I have a fluttering sound, using stock intake I hear it on medium throttle position from time to time, would the issue be this DV? I have 06H 145 710 C. I’m just thinking if I swap it for a newer version my car will be a bit faster because is maybe leaking boost? I currently have no codes…
@MeisterWerks
@MeisterWerks 3 года назад
I have the same sound on my 2017 2.0T MQB GLI. You can always check it to make sure it's not damaged, but at that point you may want to replace it - just for piece of mind. Also if there is any oil seeping out around the seal, outside of the DV, I would changed it for sure.

Does anyone know how important the plastic housing is around the piston on the D version? I just got my replacement in the mail and the plastic part is broken, didn’t want to go thru the hassle of returning if it’s not a big deal and I can just install anyways
@MeisterWerks
@MeisterWerks 3 года назад
As long at the retainer clip is holding the piston in, it should be ok without it. But I would still get a new one because if it breaks, it will go into your charge pipe and potentially damage the intercooler or engine.
