Engine came with a Hans auto parts pump. That’s what’s in this video. I wouldn’t recommend it as a lot of people have trouble with them. It starts right up but the power isn’t great with it. Kinda craps out after 4th gear. I’m going to change it out for a higher quality pump soon.
@@trevormillar5469 hans is garbage !!!! Do not buy. Call Giles in Canada. Performance Diesel. You will pay more than the scrap Hans sells, but you will not be dissapointed. You will get matching injectors, etc.. all tested with the boost your running. PRO JOB
It was able to move the jeep ok. If I had to do it again I’d stay stock TDI and get a donor VW. Well worth the trouble of wiring. The pump was the let down more than the turbo.
@@trevormillar5469 Very nice, how much boost are you running in the video? looking to do an alh swap in my cherokee this winter on the fence about etdi or mtdi.
Stacey Freels it’s not building much of anything without load on the engine even if it’s starting to spool up. If you can get a complete vehicle I’d stick with etdi. MTDI is much simpler but at a cost of MPG/performance
The TDI has better power potential as it's direct injection, where as the aaz engine is indirect direct injection which burns in a pre combustion chamber before entering the cylinder, so some of the power from the combustion is lost before reaching the piston and due to this, it is also slightly less efficient than direct injection. But direct injection requires a high pressure injection pump and injectors which can withstand the direct combustion pressures in the cylinder, where as the idi doesn't need a high pressure pump and injectors which makes them cheaper to produce and maintain. Also because the idi injection pump and injectors are at a lower pressure, they aren't as sensitive towards contaminants due to larger tolerances in machining.
It’s a very easy swap with all the TD conversion parts. I drove it around for a couple months before finding a buyer. My only regret was not using a donor TDI car which would have made the swap so much easier.
@@trevormillar5469 other than the motor mounts and ax15 adapter plate from TD conversions and a mechanical fuel injection pump what would I need? If you dont mind, why would you sell it? im on the bridge of do i sell it after and make a dollar for a wrangler or keep it forever.
@@patgraeme775 the problem comes from most of the accessories, alternator, power steering etc. and the donor is 100% necessary for keeping it electronic which I recommend because most manual pumps are garbage on the market. I sold it because that was always the goal. I ended up restoring an MGB afterwards with the profit.
@@trevormillar5469 hell yeah that's a cool trade off. I'm going the mtdi route just for the fact I don't have a donor nor like chrysler electronics to start with (fire hazards lol) wouldn't the 4bt fuel injection pump work?
@@patgraeme775 yea, I’ve seen that done with some modifications to the pump. I’d definitely talk to some diesel pump builders on your power goals because the pump is the center of everything.
