Anyone pondering rear apron removal just do it. It's a game changer in so many ways. It definaly helps break the ice on body mods as well as true 15 minute engine swaps
@@BoostedVW I can add pins to the decklid and I don't think the heat would be a big issue unless you're idling a long time. Moving would tend to suck it away
@@randall1959 it doesn’t work like that, those fans at highway RPMs suck in a lot of air and it takes the path of least resistance ie. through the now gapping hole at the bottom. I’ve rebuilt a lot of engines that were cooked from people driving with the seal and breast plate tinware missing.
@@randall1959 it’s different with buggy’s and sand rails as the whole area is open, not just a gap at the bottom directly above the muffler and heads funnelling all the heat up. Give it a shot if you want, it’s not going to die first trip but over time it kills the exhaust valve seats first. Those vw engineers spent a lot of time getting the system right.
