VW bus door track installation part 1.
I'm installing the lower door track assembly on my 1969 VW bus. This is a fairly difficult job. It includes the inner and outer rocker, front splash shield and b pillar. It also requires part of the dog leg to be removed.

I think you're on the right track now lol, just put a little bearing grease in there and it'll slide better.

Hi Stephan, I have 2 opinions about this episode. 1. You have to be OCD when working something that complex out and 2. Always listen to the boss. Mine has the best ideas and saves me from doing things the hard way. Just don’t tell them about every tool you buy 😂. I think those upstanding tabs on the end of those top hats are weld flanges. Do they mate with that new panel on the inside? They might add more stability to the new panel (the silver unpainted one). This is probably my favorite RU-vid project going right now. Lots of work and it’s looking really good 👍 Complicated for sure.

Thank you so much Bill ! I really appreciate your support ! And it totally was the bosses idea to use the engine hoist and it made life easier !!! I hadn't even thought of it lol Yes I believe those are weld flanges. I think I'm getting close !

Hi Stephan,Even of my restoration from my VW T3 Singel Cab is simulair by what you have to do with the fitment of the inner rocker and the door slide part & after that the connection from the outer rocker.I just know for sure the Klokkerholm part dont fitt-Klokkerholm parts you should not go becouse they never fit.so I hope you will manage eny way. What I learnt with my restoration VW is construckted that way you take it apart from the rear to the front and rebuild from the front to the rear again if not it wil not fit.so good luck my friend, looking forward for the next EP-🇨🇦🙏🏻Greetings.Hubertus🙏🏻🇳🇱🇳🇴🍀☮🇨🇦 PS the innerfloor weldes on top from the inner rocker.

Hi Hubertus and thank you for your feedback. The door track assembly is a klokker H unfortunately. Was the only one available. It's not horrible and at least it's nice and thick. Some of the other Klokker H pieces are paper thin. I think I'm getting close to the alignment. Cheers 🇨🇦

Yeah there's multiple things that have to line up, pretty difficult to figure that out I can see that for sure.

Coming up Awesome Stephan! Professional Job!! A good trick is to screw (self tappers) the panels where you want them, to make sure it all lines up then weld it!!! The Inner sill looks like it may be for the other side? The outer sill lip will go under if you did change it.

Hi Jason, I will investigate this for sure. They are marked left and right but you never know. ? Yes, I do have self tappers, will definitely need them for that thin inner splash shield 👍

Never trust replacement parts. They are seldom correct and often wildly off. I deal with earlier stuff but it looks like your inner rocker needs to be lower. I would be surprised if those top lips on the top hat should be there.

Thank you Stan. I've been tweaking it again. I did lower the front a tad. I think I'm getting there. The door track is a Klokkerholm. They are not known for accuracy but I got it in. I think I will be able to make it work. Thank you so much for your feed back

I wish I could give advice on this, but on my bus, I luckily didn't have to replace my door slider or rockers. I just had to do small, isolated patches all over that area. I think the guy on the Vagabonders channel did some work on that section? Maybe check that out. Regardless, you are doing all the things I would have thought to do to attempt to figure all that out.

It looks to me like the floor pan should go in first as it looks like it is supposed to go underneath the inner rocker

It's hard to figure out. Told the floor goes over the inner rocker. Got the door sliding better now. I wish I had the floor. Time will tell !
