The point about the car being out of reach is absolutely true but all cars as a whole are increasingly expensive and they make it worse by packing in the features from factory. 2 options for someone looking to buy a hot hatch: 1. Get the 7.5 at under 20 000KM if you can. You will not feel out. 2. Get the 2022 Polo version. The baby brother has good numbers and features that rival this one for a much lesser price point. As of 2022 Jan the MK8 GTI is no less than 845k with full specs. The baby brother is slightly smaller especially in the backseat but if you buy this sort of car you will spend all your time in the drivers seat anyway. So you will achieve your goal. Cool looking. Easier on budget. Fast AF. Feature heavy. Easy daily.

Bra Muzi, I think we need an update review regarding this car. I believe currently the Golf 7 GTi facelift has increased in value ever since this new generation was released.
Yeah my guy.. comparing Golf 8 GTI with Golf 7.5 TCR.. not fair… TCR is a modified GTI with a big turbo.. that same turbo is used on the Golf R 7 (Not 7.5) prior 2016… so GTI and TCR are not the same.. the same we have R.
Anyone knows if you can set active info display in golf mk8 variant like it is in the gti, where you have three gauges and the speed is shown in the central gauge?
VW should start redesigning it's DSG transmission cause boy that thing is a pain in the ass to own. The mechatronics on that transmission usually give way around 90 000 km and fixing them will cost you around R35 000 if I had money to go for this car I would definitely go for the standard transmission. Stay away from DSG it's just not reliable.
I agree with you about the VW DSG gear box, given a chance I would also opt for manual transmission. However unfortunately in SA you don't get the manual. Which is unfortunate.

Mina I wouldn't buy 2l engine Hatch more 500k, which is even fwd. Anevar, the car market in RSA is a rip off. I rather be called stingy. Yoh, anything above 500k needs to be awd or RWD or let's leave it.
