It was a load of work Udo, but it was very enjoyable all the same. I can't wait to get it finished, and then we can have a decent video on it outside in a better perspective 👍
It was a huge undertaking but so worth it Simon. Well done. Love the use of the membrane on the roof. I keep spying on interesting and cheap van projects of similar size in need of plenty of "habitation rebuild' like yours. But as the ones im looking at are typically on a Mk 1 Boxer or a Talbot chassis cab, there is no financial sense in them whatsoever. Unlike your wonderful VW.
Hi John, I really appreciate that, buddy. I first saw the EPDM being used on American RV's, and it just seemed like the best and most logical solution to my particular problem. I also agree about rebuilding other marques of motorhome. As much as it's fun to do, the numbers have to add up at the end of the project as it's not cheap, as you can imagine. You are always pretty safe with a VW as you are well aware 😊
Hi Ron, good to hear from you buddy. Its definitely a fun project to do, as long as you have the space to do it. They are pressure treated roofing timbers, yes, modern timber treatments do not have any I'll effect on the aluminium cladding, unlike creosote treatments from the 80's and 90's.
