I had problems with the brakes in the camper, which led me down the road of identifying the cause and remedying the reason why it got so bad without me noticing.
Interesting - I think I have the same problem. About the poverty spec thing, I remember from a classic car mag years ago that the base Golf had one fog light, but the next trim level had 2, and the guys at the magazine found that the only difference was that the factory didn't fit the second bulb! On that basis, stripping the steering column switchgear to solve a dip/main beam problem on my daughter's T3 I discovered that the poverty spec had single speed wipers, but there was a mysterious white plastic insert that prevented the stalk going to the last setting, so I removed it and hey presto, another wiper speed! Those crafty chaps in the VW marketing department....
Well at least you have one! Our poverty spec van didn't ever have the bulb! 😁 The things that Volkswagen considered "optional" back in the day is amazing!
Great camera work. Hard to do under a van but you did a great job. I thought most vehicles carry the same loom for all the fancy stuff like AC but with ends just tied up out if the way for basic spec.
Thanks! I've been putting more effort into my videography recently, so it's good that my efforts are noticed. Some of the wiring is there, but not all of it. For example, there was a wire to the rear light clusters for the fog light but none in behind the dash for the switch, so I think they do change the dash harness.
There is a metal slave cylinder available with a treaded fitting. I have the same as yours but the 1996 Audi tdi box that came with my engine has a metal one. Much easier to hook up but I only realised after. On another note I said I give you a comparison on an AAZ and the tdi a while back, just finished an AAZ conversion on another van and it has nothing on the Tdi. Maybe if the pump was wound up a bit it might help the AAZ but the low down torque and long gearing with the Passat box puts it in a different league altogether

@@Endfloat Maybe, I left the pump at the original setting as I really just want them to have a nice clean reliable engine. It's not bad but no tdi. I guess the difference in yours and mine was you had to spend a lot to go from AAZ to Tdi, I simply had no engine. So I guess its hard to say whether it would be worth the cost but there is a big difference in driveabilty.

Is it possible the clutch and brake lines at the master cylinder got switched at some time in the past especially if lines were replaced due to corrosion
