Thank you for this video. I have a T5.1 and I’ve had a couple of issues with the door, I stupidly thought were separate issues. One was slide door not shutting easily (comes off runners) and the other central locking not working on the slide door. After watching your video it led me to see that the lower runner needs replacing and therefore the electric locking mechanism not lining up.
First thing to do is check that the roller at the top is tight ! and then the bottom..... If the roller at the top is loose that can be the main culprit.... Great video.... Yeh one of the very few videos i could find which had a depth and practical solutions.. Excellent thanks.... I have a similar problem . it was the roller at the top and the left screw on sliding door needed raising .
thank you for the video i just fixed my sliding door on my T6 ! it wasnt closing normaly for a while but didnt know why... until i saw it was lower then the other door :( but im happy that it is a quick fix.
Great video, thanks for that! I have converted a few vans now and find that before conversion the door is fine but seems harder to close once finished, I realised early on that is to do with the carpet lining blocking the rear vents making the sliding door harder to close as the air has nowhere to go which now leads me to advise purchasers of my vehicles to open the front door before closing the sliding door to avoid air lock which works well much like having a door open when closing the pop top, thanks to your helpful video I shall now try some adjustments to see if I can work around it, I’m thinking perhaps they all need tweaking from factory settings once carpet lined and converted to work around this issue.
I think you are correct. It certainly does not help the air escape. I have had to adjust every door to stop rattles and make them close correctly. I hope it helps.
Very nice video. Mine is exactly the same. When winding up the bolt on the centre hinge.I supported the door on an axle stand, because the bolt wasn't able to overcome the weight of the door.
Thanks for the really informative video with easy to understand guidance. Just wondering if the adjustment at the top stopped the leak? It's exactly the problem that I'm experiencing. Thanks again for the great video💯👍
Hi folks, I have a T$ conversion. I wondered if someone could give me a bit of advice please... I'm not mechanically minded at all. When it comes to that sort of thing it's like Algebra to me. I just have no clue. So my sliding door isn't aligned but the mechanism, bottom, middle, top - they all look relatively new, both the wheels and the gold coloured metal. Whatever it is, I'm gonna have to put it in to get fixed as I also have a back door mechanism which needs replacing, I turned the tap too fast one day and it separated into it's sections. I also have some form of electrics problem. The guy I went to last time, after he'd replaced the timing belt (i was at school with him and we are still good friends), told me that he couldn't get it off for some reason. I suspect the man who I bought it from has put a fuse or whatever (I don't know) in the wrong place, as i know he' fitted a reversing warning sound. The sliding door is worrying me something awful. I can't get a garage anywhere and this has come at the worst time. Can anyone tell me what i should be paying please? Money is kinda tight at the moment!
Thanks for this video. I have an issue with one of my doors and this helps me to start getting my head around it. Although as well as the door hanging low, when it is in the closed position, it doesn’t sit far enough forward. So there is a large gap between the leading edge of the door and the B pillar From your experience do you have any suggestions as to how I might remedy this? Cheers.
Hi, have you still got the van? Any idea what the gap should be between the front wing and door, between the front door and sliding door, rear of sliding door, and what the gap should be either the top or bottom of the doors or know where I can find the information out ? I’ve just resprayed my van and my ocd is in overdrive trying to get the alignment right, want it to be spot on before I fit side windows
Hi I do have my van. I don't know what the gaps should be. I would set them so they look even. I would imagine that is what they would do at the factory.
@@ccuk I've got it shutting a bit better but the back of the door doesn't click in without a good slam. I wonder if I have non standard seals that stick out a bit further
@@thatginettaguy1714 mine was the same until I compromised the position of the rear latch. I moved the rear bracket out a little which sorted the issue for me. The compromise if the door skin is about 1 to 2 proud of the rear body panel. This is hardly noticeable
@@thatginettaguy1714 that is a shame it did not work. I am gradually coming to the opinion that these vans are not as refund as they should be considering the premium price.
