Great video guys in the U.K. this LWB version is called the Tiguan Allspace! The next Volkswagen Tiguan in Europe is going to be like the Audi Q3 with the coupe style rear and that is due out 2022/2023 so that will be interesting 🤔

How do you feel with the lack of a center console to lean on? The storage area is great but my feeling is there is nothing to lean a shoulder on. Totally personal preference I realize but seems like this lack long term may not be so comfortable. I rented a Tiguan for a while and while I loved everything about it, I felt like this lack left the shoulders tired on long drives. Thanks for your thoughts!

DON'T BUY THE TIGUAN AS IT HAS MANY ISSUES AND DEFECTS THAT VOLKSWAGEN CANNOT FIX!! Welcome to my hell. I leased a 2018 VW Tiguan last July and have been battling with Volkswagen since I got it with the B pillar noise (both sides), engine stalling, and the horrible jerking of the vehicle after releasing the gas pedal. There is a factory defect with Tiguans where the pillar was not properly welded together at the plant so when the vehicle's body stresses it clicks. I have taken my Tiguan to get this and the other defects taken care of and Volkswagen has no solution. I have discovered that the local service personnel are just as frustrated as they are stuck waiting on Volkswagen engineers to come up with a solution. I opened a case with VW of America to buy back my Tiguan and after months of back and forth nonsense, VW of America basically said that is the way the Tiguan functions so too bad. Once again Volkswagen has cheated their customers by ignoring a defect and not fessing up to it. So either we all get together and complain to Volkswagen, better business bureau or suffer. This is my 7th Volkswagen and my last. Good luck to all who are suffering with the Tiguans' defects.

Once my Golf R is paid off I plan to buy the SEL Premium R-Line. I don't want the 3rd row seating because I'd rather have more room in the back hatch.

Great quality camera work! I test drove one of these on the weekend along with an Atlas. I have to say, despite the decent torque figures it felt slow. I think there's a real opportunity for a manufacturer to make a GTI-esque compact crossover. So many of these mini-utes have a sporting design but nothing to back it up. In Europe they've got the SQ3 and soon an RSQ3. BMW really needs a X2M40i. VW, Subaru, Mazda and Honda could make some really exciting mini SUV's if they wanted to. They already have the engines! - but I guess the market just isn't there.

This has major intake valve carbon build ups. It's a GDI engine after all. So the more miles you pack on, the worse the build up.

Interesting. I'm interested in the 2019 Jetta, which uses the same Asin 8-speed transmission as the Tiguan. Some Jetta owners are reporting odd transmission behavior and sounds, particularly in Eco driving mode, so I thought I'd start researching how the same transmission does on the Tiguan. At about 3:30, you begin describing "funny" transmission behavior on the Tiguan, which some Jetta owners are reporting at 3rd and 5th gears, accompanied by a "huffing, breathing, or grinding" sound. Many remedy it by driving in Sport mode, just as you did on the Tiguan. VW is telling Jetta owners that there's nothing wrong with the transmission and the sound is normal. You guys did a nice review of the Jetta but didn't report any "funny" transmission behavior. To your recollection, is what you're describing on the Tiguan something you experienced on the Jetta?

I congratulate VW for having Toyota/Aisin build the transmission. When TMC builds the whole car I might think about buying one.

I have all the reasons to erase the day from my memory when I stepped in to buy VW Tiguan 2019 Highline Rline. The dealer Dilawari at VW 401 Dixie Road delivered me a faulty product. The sun shade was not opening and they had to order parts to fix it and they took 3 days to fix the problem in the brand new car. Worst experience followed by another worst experience when I noticed after I got my car back that the brand new trunk cabin cover of mine is replaced by an old one! yes you read me right this is kind of shady. Now I have to visit them again to get it sorted. Car has issue with rear traffic monitor and couple of other issues that I reported to them. But as usual sales people just want to sell the car and after the sell the car and its problems are not their concern!. Sad but I have to live with this problem for coming years.

Too big for the city. The only cool thing about this Tiguan is the color. It’s way too big. I still love the 2016. Just wish it had more tech like park assist and lane departure sensor. Sorry Volkswagen you were number one until you made this giant.

My daughter has a 2014 Tiguan with 89,000 KM's ( 55,000 miles ) . On cold morning starts hitching and jerking about 3 miles out check engine flashing and sometimes EPC warning flashing...same time EVERY TIME. NEW mass air flow sensor, NEW coolant sensor, NEW coils, NEW spark plugs, NEW camshaft sensor, NEW pcv valve, CRC intake valve cleaner sprayed in intake, LIQOI-MOLY injector cleaner in, NO CHANGE. 1000.00 spent and NOW VW dealership wants ANOTHER 1000.00 to CLEAN INTAKE VALVES which is a MAJOR problem with these things, and I mean MAJOR, it is all over the internet. My OBD scanner says RANDOM MISFIRES, VW dealership scan...same thing. THEY don't know what the hell is wrong with THEIR OWN VEHICLE. IF YOU HAVE EVER LISTENED TO ANYONE BEFORE....LISTEN NOW...STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY from ANYTHING with VW on it....you have been WARNED!

So, everything that is standard in Europe is an extra in Canada. I feel so sorry for you guys. PS. 200lbft of torque is nothing.

I went from a 2017 cx9 to this and holy sh*t this thing Tiguan r line sucks. I kno I kno somewhat apples and oranges but the Tiguan feels cheap jittery and almost like it’s gonna fold like aluminum foil. Didn’t drive the atlas but the Tiguan is not worth the money. Go withToyota or Mazda.

That SUV in Europe got 6 different engines . Canadian version got only the one that's SUCKED . For the size that SUV should have at least 250 hp . Mazda 5 got 250 hp on premium fuel and 300 lb feet of torque . Hate German's for every future you have to pay top dollars !! Mazda 5 Honda CRV Toyota 4rav much more reliable and more HP . SCREW VW .
