love how you guys aren't afraid to takle a engine rebuild! Grande Calones!! Love how you guys don't take things to seriously, that's what VW is all about!
You guys have quickly become one of my favorite channels. If I ever get the opportunity and luck to find a reasonably priced VW Van, I'm going to you guys for a complete re-build. Thanks for the fun :-)
Massive respect from the 954, love how your methods are old-school nice to see the younger generation thinking outside the box. Your channel just got a lot better! Not sure about the new chick yet though.
The engine is looking sweet. Did you rebuild with 2.0 internals? Word of advice, take a couple extra valve cover gaskets and silicone just in case. I had a gasket blow in the hot desert during a long holiday weekend. 300 miles of constantly stopping to fix the gasket and 15 quarts of oil really made for a horrible drive. How the lack of a $3 part really ruined my day. Keep up the awesome work guys!
Bought a really worn out 72 Bug years ago for 300 bucks and a set of used tires In the early 80s very broke and needed a car that ran i bought all cheapest made in Brazil pistons and rings plus a gasket kit ran the hell out of the bug for years she was a real rustbucket but ran and when it was time for the scrapyard. We pulled the engine as far as i know that motor is still running in a. Freinds daily driver today and everyone used to tell me that the Brazilian made parts were junk i used them because thats what i could afford at the time I watched the car slowly disappear at the scrapyard as people. Bought whatever parts they could salvage off it I do hope to get some more Aircooled VW s in my lifetime and fortunately money is better than it was back in those days so i am really interested in the Subaru swaps. Now despite losing the purist of the vehicle i like the horsepower gain and look of the Subaru Boxer. Motor in the Buses and Vanagans
Didn't check ring land clearance. Check for oil around the dipstick. It's gonna use it. It's also gonna blow at the cylinder to cylinder head interface. It's a mess. It's not a Lego toy.
That engine got me as far as it needed to, I admit I did speed through "rebuilding" it, but I will be tearing it down to the long block and doing an actual rebuild in the coming weeks. Check out the new videos
these was not a rebuild ,it was a outer end overhaul there is a difference-about 700 bucks . The type 4 can get away. with what you did.the heads and cly wear faster than the crank. GOT TO KEEP HER RUNNING. thanks for the video. Rambus
