When I was 14, Animal was a cool song. Now that I'm approaching 50, it really is a juvenile song that I never need to hear again. They have a lot better stuff in their catalog I'd rather listen to.
i kinda agree with your point, but some songs are not meant to be taken seriously. Animal has a killer riff and it's just fun to rock to so don't care much for it's lyrics
I heard this song as I was on my way to my deployment, pulled 6 tours and it still resonates with me. I miss all of my fallen brothers, Doc made it home physically, but mentally still there always there. FUCK!!!!!

I love W.A.S.P. and Blackie Lawless just as much as the next guy, but Blackie should listen to his own words. Cause now he's the one not playing stuff from his first albums cause he's a "born again Christian". He's even said that he'll never play Animal (Fuck Like A Beast) anymore. The song that arguably made his career, if not that then it surely helped.
If the man doesnt want to perform, then that is his prerogative. People change, beliefs shift. I will love his old work till I cease to exist, but I respect his decision.
If Blackie wants to be christian that's fine, I'm an atheist but I still love the music and respect the beliefs of others. I do wish that he wouldn't deny the fans some of the songs they want to hear though. Alice Cooper is a christian and he never strays away from any of the more dark, risque or "evil" songs on stage because he realizes it's what the fans want.
I understand this well. It's some men's careers usually that makes them who they become as a man. Some aren't as focused as that but some are. Getting much older definitely dampens the flame in most all people though. It's a part of reality. I told someone awhile back that I didn't think this song was about a woman from a man. The lyrics was much too deep and raw for that to have been the meaning. Relationships come and go sadly but it's true because most people aren't that faithful to hold on. There have been some that did back in history but they're rare indeed.
Its about his parents(not blackies per sey) but jonathons who this album revolved around. Jonathons older brother who is the light of his parents eyes get killed by a drunk driver. That makes it even worse for young jonathon, runs away to la to pursue a career in music. Basically becomes the biggest band, he calls his parent to tell them his success but they cut him off telling him they have no son. So jonathon hangs himself on stage with his guitar strings. Like all the drugs money and groupies never filled the void of his parents looking down on him his whole life, and then ya know them disosning him drives him to the edge. I feel and love this album soo much omg!!!Thats the story of this concept album. Fucking masterpiece!!!

He have been saying that stuff about Bono in a couple of interviews.. yet he don't seem to recollect that "hatred" he felt towards him for denying the fans the song which actually made him famous in the first place.. it's really sad..

Bronze age mythology should not play in to a persons thoughts of what they are allowed to do. If was his decision then fine but it is not. It is a limiting belief, there will be zero contribution to the world of music coming from Christian rock - it is limited to the past.
Never would listen to this guy till he became a Christian since some of his song titles are so bad. After listening to some of his later cd's I think he the band would of done better without the image they had back then.
It's funny you say that because I was a girl when I found out about this band, but I was very intimidated by the saw cod piece and their whole meat and torture gimmick. I remember seeing the Animal album cover and my heart coming up into my throat because I was actually kind of freaked out. Stupid now, because I'm a woman, but I turned around and didn't listen to W.A.S.P until I was older. Now I see how much talent was actually there. Had I come into it here, at this album, I would have been their biggest fan.
I don't even believe this is the original. I think that's a reworking they did. He officially redid the album a few years ago I believe. I always thought parts of it had potential but wasn't the masterpiece some people claim it was

W.A.S.P/The Last Command(insane album)/Electric Circus/Live ... in the RAW/Headless Children/Crimson Idol are THE main albums of the band. After that there is good songs in each album still. Albums are just more mature and religion oriented which is far better to hear than apes trying to chuckle in a microphone and move their asses like whores.
