The previous owner installed the W2415 in all 3 bedrooms, living room and dining room. The dining room heater quit working last year.Turning the breaker off and/or turning off the thermostat for extended periods of time does not reset it. In the troubleshooting section of the owners manual it says to bypass the limit switch and replace the limit switch if bad. There appear to be 2 limit switches. Bypass both at once? And where do I buy replacements?
Yes you can certainly replace a baseboard heater on an exterior wall with the W series. We do recommend that you insulate behind the wall can as best as possible and also recommend using caulk to seal any gaps between the wall can and the finished wall surface to reduce any possible cold air intrusion. I got a house that came with this wall heater. Dont know its wattage.. .but in the winter and it's cold outside (around 35F), it's installed in the living room that is open to the kitchen and laundry room. Seems by itself, it can't heat up the room to a comfy temp.. usually I can get it to about 65F degrees and it just stays at that temp.. I have to turn on another portable heater to heat up the area to around 70F... Is that normal?
It sounds like the heater is too small or the space, since it is so open to other rooms. All depends on your insulation values of the house and square footage. Here is a tool that will give you a general guide on sizing. That heater is 2000W maximum depending on the model.
