The girlfriend is really good with the camera, no shake no drifting away and she also knows how to "handle" him when he becomes frustrated. I love the bit where she says come on chop chop. Brilliant 👍
@@Dan23_7 chop chop is old school. The mercedes with the mechanical pump is old school so the boy must be old school so her remark is very clever and in line with the situation.
Might sound crazy Luke but i really would love to see more of this car. Love this model and what you've done so far. Understandably it all comes down to money, would love to see you put a new clutch in it and fix few other bits and pieces then run it on a dyno 👍 great work mate
Loved the video mate, im a mechatronic and started working full time like a year ago after i finish my course, i work at a Mercedes dealership in portugal, and my internship was in a big mercedes dealership too, i feel gratefull that people have been teaching me the right way of doing things, just like you, that's why i love your content and all the stuff you do, because even tho im only 18 and i basicly have 3 years of experience (mechatronics course + This last year working as a technician) i just think that what you do is jsut the right thing like i would like to do, i watch the videos all the time thinking like -"That's the way to do it". I do own a w202 with a 604, with that rubbish Lucas EVE pump (it's fucking rubbish, in less than a month of owning i had to rebuild the pump and it has no turbo, is jsut slow lets say that), but is a good and economical car to get arround. Im starting a 2nd job soon, so that i save up enough for like a 210 or something with a 605 and just properly tune it (hopefully) with some of your kits and some help with details that you cover on your videos. That's all, keep up the goodwork and i hope everything goes right with the business you really seem to deserve it. There is just a big question that i've had in my mind for a while, what are those earphones you use? I can't find them online
20:02 starts one of this gentlemans best rants ever. 🤣 Edit.. I found the the time marker was highlighted and kept clicking it. Laughed my ass off!! You're great!
If you can make it ten grand and deliver to NYC, I’ll take it!! 😂. Seriously though, I wish you were local to us over here - master craftsmanship never comes cheap. The wealth of knowledge you have in these diesel platforms is the result of, I’m guessing, twenty plus years of study and blood, sweat, and tears. Some people don’t seem to understand that if you pay peanuts you will end up with monkeys, and that’s without going into concepts such as honesty and full disclosure. Always enjoy a DPUK video. Good luck with the sale, I may have to call you at some point to see what might be done for a US based 96 non-turbo W210 OM606 that lacks a turbo…
Just so you know, I work in a parts store in central USA. Thatstnot the interesting part. I have talked with over 10 diesel merc enthusiast over the last year that all knew who you were and have your services on their wish list. You are world famous. :)
The biggest failure of self employed people is undervaluing their time. 20 years ago, I was charging $AU200 per hour for my time as IT consultant. Others were doing similar (but not as good) work for $50. I had a few customers complain and go to someone else, only to come back after a while because nothing worked properly. (And the $50 bozos would charge twice as many hours for a task because they hadn't a clue, and the problems would persist). Never apologise for how much you value your time. There are always customers who will pay a high price for competent work. By the way, I did fund my retirement :)
What’s the old saying!!! Your not paying me for the hour it took me todo the job… your paying me the the premium because it took me 10years to todo this job in a hour.!!
I just bought a 300TE which is an absolute piece of junk. Seller had been “excessively optimistic” about the condition of the wagon, the wheel bearing welded itself to a (now) distorted hub, was leaking around 1 L of oil per hour of driving - motor absolutely covered in silicone sealant, everywhere. Proper clunker. Still deciding whether it lives or dies. Oops
I think you the parts and work you had to put in are worth more than the car, that gearshift knob was a just trolling and the whole car was a huge red flag, but it made for an entertaining vid, cheers
First time for everything Luke 😬. I don’t get tightwads that sell cars with a tank full of fumes. Definitely needs the DPUK treatment. One of your new billet pumps and some nice ceramic goodies should make this a cracking motor.
Hilarious episode 🙂 this is! But I share your pain although I'm not a professional mechanic, more an advanced DYI, if I may say so - but having also (too many) unfinished projects, having a "blast" underneath my resto projects while having a ramp with a vehicle with a too large To-Do list. Anyhow - really enjoyed this one! I will certainly contact you for my 2 other W124's in the near future. TaaDaa....
That's how project cars get very expensive when you're paying by the hour - never mind the difficulty of finding someone who can actually do the job in the first place. One reason there are so many unfinished projects for sale.
Interesting video.. She will sell for sure.. I like your £ p/h hourly rate proposal - A suprising rate ! ... but you can easily justify it... seems fair.. Have you ever tried compound turbo-ing a 605 .. would be interested in a collaboration ? Great work.. btw Keep it up - your not the only bugger with shelved projects needing attention..
I wonder how realistic it is to relocate the radiator so you have easier front of engine access? I'd love that and be willing to put up with a little fuss if it wasnt too dangerous. I'm willing to accept that this may be a really dumb idea and would love and commenta for or against.
At this point, I'd love to see a little compilation of him saying "Noooope" - What's buying a modified W124 that you didn't work on like? "Nooope", "Nooo..." "Nooooope" :D
I actually looked at this car and considered buying it but it looks like another sportline of dreams (which im having sooo much fun with.......)looks like i was correct😅

I live in California and in order for my vehicle to be emissions legal, I cannot put an engine newer than 1995 in my vehicle, it must be 1995 or older. OM606 engines are hard to find in the states and usually at a premium. If you were not able to put an om606, which would be your next choice? I'm looking for around 300-400 horsepower. Nothing too extreme.
