I think the "Sachs stuff is crap" mentality, comes from folks putting a standard Sachs clutch between a turned up truck engine and 7,000lb+ of vehicle. I know with the ZF-5 behind my 7.3 powerstroke most folks overfill them by about a quart to help with gear roll over noise. I'd imagine it's difficult to do that with a car trans.
I agree, I've found Sachs to be the best "standard" clutch plate.... but this could mean the alternatives were even worse......plus we worship this dpuk man as a god..... rather my gf does...... handsome 😈! Lol
The Sachs thing could be down to counterfeit parts. The counterfeiters generally pick a high end partto copy badly and sell them cheaply. Then pass them to folks looking for bargains through eBay or Amazon. I once bought branded wheel bearings that you could dent the races with a centre punch. They seemed fine for a week. The guy on eBay sold hundred s of them. I never did get my money back. Mind you I have had the same problem with bearings from euro car parts.
I have been looking at that ebay ad every other day for a while now, but ideally I'm looking an older model with an om606 and touch more hp. Great video as always

It's the holding force that's is important in combination of clutch material. Yes you will get a hard pedal but a firm grasp NO slip or burn. I have 500lb on my fj cruiser much better over stock in performance and towing
Got a business idea. Built 20 Mercedes C111 replicas with your OM 606 drivetrain. This car of the 70's still has legendary status . The problem would be to get the permission from Mercedes Benz. And first you'd have to build a proof of concept.

Do you have any experience with the baldur dsl1 controller for an EDC pump? I love the idea of cruise control in my 606 swapped 6 speed 350sdl, plus egt safteys and such. It's for towing my drift car and some light hooning fun.

Can anyone help me as their is not much info on the tinterweb but did the w124 come standard with a turbo om606 if so how do I know what to look for as I much prefer the w124 shape to the later model and w124 wagons seem more readily available, looking to turn it into a superturbo diesel, what model had the om606 turbo as I've read that na turbo conversion is a pain
