How to replace Vacuum Lines (plastic) on a S Class W140 S420 and S500.
This is a quick and easy job. Due to heat and age the vacuum lines become brittle and will break eventually if not replaced.

I sure hope you also replaced those cracking rubber "L" shaped hose connectors as well! Rubber vac hoses should be somewhat difficult to push on. If they come on and off with little effort, they are NO GOOD

@@patrickcraig618 I go to the junkyard and pull as much of the airlines as I can from the soft close system. Same size and its an endless amount for pennies. Sometimes they let you keep it

Integrated quality video. I have some possibly vacuum line issue in my1996 BENZ S 600. The doors are nicely closing with IR fob-key all of them including trunk, but NOT the drivers door ! Is it the actuator the culprit or a vacuum line. *Car is is Athens, Greece (left hand drive)* Soft close works perfect ! Thank you KA-BENZ

You have to test for vacuum in the vac. line & actuator. If you never removed a door trim panel I would suggest check the manual or other videos or you can damage the wood trim.

@@ka-benz I think, I did n't expain the issue of my doorlock system. That is: When I lock the doors (with the IR key), the drivers door do not open (also the rear doors), and have to use the key in drivers door. When I have opened all the doors, the IR fucntion closes ALL the doors ! Is the probles in vacum pump lines leak ? or at the doors ? THANK YOU for the respond. Regards from Athens, Greece.

@@athanasiosbairlis5563 If all doors lock and unlock with mechanical key then vacuum lines and PSE pump are good. Try new batteries in key FOB, remove and install fuse #2 in trunk then resync key FOB.If that dosn't work you could remove and install the 2 electrical connectors on the PSE pump.

No. There are many causes of rough idle, I recently replaced spark plugs and no difference.

Great vid, you included all part number. I own 1999 S500 I after I change the whole set of coil and spark plugs it take care of the rough idle. The car is more than 20 yrs old, sooner or later.

Thanks, I changed spark plugs. No improvement. Coil packs should be good I have no misfire fault codes but could test them.
