I had to replace the front grille on my 2013 E350 sedan. I only had to undo the section of the plastic directly behind the grille underneath the hood/bonnet and put aside the hood opening cable. Undo a couple clips. Shimmy out the old grille, and reverse the process. Whole process took about 1 -1 1/2 hours but only because I’ve never done this type work before. If I was a professional or proficient, probably would’ve taken about 30 minutes.
Mercedes has made this so difficult, to deterred people from doing it , I must admit it looks nice , I will love this on my 14 plates w121 convertible.
I was thinking of doing the same to mine... But like this one... Mine is also not the AMG... SE like this so for me..... It would make sense to change the complete bumper to the AMG spec and change the grill at the same time. Two birds.... One..... Bbbbumper!
Yes I completely agree with you.. it was indeed a lot of work. We done it on the go so you wouldn't we didn't know that it's going to be that much effort put into it.. however now we know.. ,👌👌🤟
Thanks for the question. We pushed it in from the front. Push it in roughly at 30 degrees angle and then turn it left (anticlockwise )back into place.. ;)
All this for a plastic grill. You have to take off the wheel arch liners, bumper, electronics, undercarriage protectors and etc. Why is it not just, open hood, unscrew grill and screw in new grill? The grill is about 3ft by 1 ft. I'm not installing a lift in my kitchen.
@@projectblackbeats I have to install the black (replacing the silver) front splitter. I've had three carbon fiber, identical to stock, black splitters sitting in the box for about 2 months. That is much easier but, I'm dressing it with plastic screw pins and etc. ;) Great stuff! The new Merc grill does look amazing but, unless I pay someone to do it, it "ain't" "gettin" done. (Added some dumb USA slang..What have we become?)
You can find all about these rims and where to order them by watching our another video .. link - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RCw9sBF3KyE.html I would suggest you to watch this video before you order the rims as we run into some complications with the company we ordered them from.. everything will be explained in the video..
I'm half way through this job. I've got the bumper off, GTR grill in (with a bit of a gap at the bottom of the chrome). The Mercedes star badge does not fit the GTR grill. I've tried for hours, spun it every direction. The clips on the back are nowhere near touching and the star doesn't even want to fit in. Car is 2013 e400 with the "amg" 2 horizontal line factory grill. Did you have to get a new star badge (mine has distronic, so just plastic badge), or did you modify the original? Any tips greatly appreciated and I will attack it again and hopefully finish it tomorrow. What a nightmare of a job!!
