@@meaghans4591 Your car seems to be like this one below: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cNgjFWamEPk.html and even in this video it should just twist off. Maybe it's stuck a bit or need a little more force (Not too much though or it'll break). But your car's star emblem definitely twist's off like this.
@@AlbanianFix 2012 the whole grill has to be removed 🙄my luck mine does not twist these after market parts are the worst the star to door sills not worth it 😞
The best way to do it in my opinion is to fuse tap the headlight circuit on the hot side that way when the headlights come on at night so does the emblem. This method works too tho good video! 👍🏻
hi great video i have a c400 2015 and installed thats same badge and now i get on dashboard a radoe dirty sensor that leed badge has a thick back and blocks the signal i guess
How did u get the drl wire to have so much slack? Mine has like 5” and i cant connect to wire to it. Too tight down there. Maybe ill go thru the wheel well
Thanks for sharing this video! I have a GLB 250 2020. Is it the brown or the blue wire of the DRL that should be connected to the hot wire from the emblem?
If it doesn’t twist off like I’m showing it on the video then you probably have a clip-on star. If that’s the case, you’ll have to get on the backside of the star and unclip all of the tabs around the emblem. To get to the backside of the star, you’ll have to remove a few parts at the top of the grill or remove a few front bumper clips and screws (locate on each side of the front tires and underneath the carriage) just enough so you can slightly tilt the bumper forward for you to reach to the back of the star. Keep in mind that a clip-on star is not compatible with a twist-on star. You’ll have to find the right LED star that can also clip-on.
I tried this on my 2014 CLS 550, including running the hot line to the DRL, but all the star light would do is flicker. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.
Ah the infamous LED flickering. Looks like your car either doesn’t supply the right voltage to the LED or the current is not consistent enough because it’s not made for LED light systems. The only answer would be to get in touch with the LED seller or manufacturer and ask them if they have some sort of a Anti-flickering Adaptor like LED decoder or Load resistor that can cancel out the flickering. If they don’t have anything then I would look into other LED companies that make Stars for Mercedes which also support your car model.
Since the make of this video, it hasn't had any effect on other lights or power draw. The LED itself has gotten a bit dimmer but that's just the quality of the LED light over years. I might replace it again someday, especially now that the lines are run and the swap will be a breeze, will take me like 30 seconds literally.
I’m not sure about the headlight but you can always use a volt meter, unplug the headlight harness and measure which wire becomes hot when you turn on the headlights.
@@AlbanianFix hey bro I’m trying to wire mine like he did his. I’m trying to have it turn on when my light come on at night. Just have to find the right wire
@@temper21st I wouldn't sweat it man. There's only two cables, so hook up to one of the cables, if it works great, if it doesn't, hook up to the other one. The cable tap/splicer can be undone and doesn't damage the cables.

Also when I do the wireing do I need to cut anything for the daylights wire that’s already on the car or just throw that connecter on there and that’s it?
They’re all over the internet, Amazon, eBay, etc. You don’t need to cut anything. Just place the wires in the splicer, crimp it and it will cut through and make the connection for you. Very easy.
Jo vlla akoma, mund te hap nje kanal tjeter ne youtube ne shqip por nuk e di saktesisht se kur. Me thuaj ku ke ngel edhe do mundohem ta shpjegoj ktu...
Whoa 😳 😮 how did that happen??? Please share us your story as what wire you tried to hook it up to for others to read. Your story can help save people a lot of money.
So I attempted to hook mine up the same way as this video. However, I tried to tie it into the low beam headlight using the same type of clamps shown in the video. The European car mechanic I used explained that the star and the car lights are different voltages which caused the problem.
@@bigehauben827 Thanks! I had my GLE350 quoted a couple years ago for $1,000. I just brought my wife's GLA250 in for it's first service and asked again. Yup, still $1,000. I wanted to grab one of the Mercedes mechanics walking around and ask him if he'd like to throw it in for $100 on his lunch break or day off!
