Inside Boola Bardip. Discover what’s inside Western Australia’s new $400 million museum Boola Bardip. The new Aboriginal name Boola Bardip, means “Many Stories” in the Noongar language and recognised the significant role of Aboriginal people in WA’s shared cultural heritage. The new WA Museum buildings, include eight permanent galleries as well as a 1,000 square meter temporary exhibition gallery a shop and cafe.
This video we take a look at the buildings and architecture where old meets new. Boola Bardip is a stunning mix of buildings with some of the heritage structures dating back to 1855. You need to allow yourself plenty of time to visit the new museum. This trip I solely spent looking at the buildings the self.. It will take another couple of visits, to take the time to look at and enjoy all the exhibitions in the gallery spaces.
I highly recommend a visit or two to discover this amazing and spectacular new Museum. It’s name Boola Bardip is perfect as Many Stories both new and old will be told within its walls. No doubt many stories will be passed on to friends and family of those that visit.

Thank you Dex. Think you will love it.. It would be very hard to take a bad photo of the architecture of the buildings. I have to go back to actually look at the galleries. 😜

The museum turned out very nicely. When I was last visiting Perth in mid 2019, it was still under construction. I remember walking by the construction site many times while visiting the State Library which is a terrific library. I also recall visiting an Aboriginal art exhibit nearby where I observed some beautiful works of art. The Perth Cultural Centre is one of the true gems of Perth. Thanks for the video, Grant.

I totally agree with you Shiva.. Think the Museum turned out rather awesome.. Some of course hate the new architecture against the old.. There is a lot of Aboriginal art through out the museum with one gallery dedicated to it as well. There are some really beautiful works of art. Glad you enjoyed the video and guess its nice to get to see how it looks after only seeing the building site.

What a great mix of old and modern architecture, love the reflective lights from the staircases great way to to repurpose a beautiful building. Love the way you can look out at the skyline and see the buildings taller than the museum. Also love the nutileus shape looking down through the stairs it looks so classy! Yet another thing to add to our " must see" list when we next visit! Nice to see some sunshine, here in UK we have very cold and overcast weather. We're also now in full lockdown until March 31. Thanks for lifting our spirits with this uplifting view of Perth. Take care, stay safe❤️

Hey Rosemary, love hearing from you. Yes I love the mix of old and architecture, i think it looks quite amazing.. and it done on a big scale. Yes love the view between the roof off the old library and the new gallery above which overhangs.. and esp love where they have cut the roof off some of the old buildings and replaced it with glass that you can look right down and into the old buildings from the new. Really does look great. OMG.. Lockdown until 31 March.. that sounds really hard esp in your cold weather.. would you believe we are in a bit of a heat wave here in Perth atm. Stay safe.. that new strain you have of Covid has just arrived in Australia, causing some lockdowns in places. Sounds really scary.. I will try and get out and film some of our sunshine for you in some future videos. 🤗❤️😀

Thank you Maki.. I really appreciate that.. It takes me ages to edit some videos.. not to mention the 5 hours I was at the museum for to film it to start with. Haha. But it would be hard to take a bad photo at the new museum.. the architecture is really beautiful.

Grant ,that was awesome ,you have an eye for the shapes of the architecture and put the camera in the best positions to show it in all its splendour with the editing & appropriate music , I loved the music in the Christmas video PERFECT just the right sound , your the best thing since sliced bread for Perth 🤣 the tourist bureau should employ you , it’s great having you to show us beautiful Perth guess where we are today “ 😁I had a shock when you showed us that park opposite the Mt Hospital who would have thought all theses goodies were in there ,another one was the Stringy Bark trees at Herdsman that was the first one I watched 👏👏and sent it overseas they also put them on Facebook so most of Uk have seen your work . Hope the tips of Wanaroo and Perth foreshore is helpful .Keep churning them out 👍🙋‍♀️

Thanks Bob. It was reasonably busy. Took me ages to get some shots without people in it.. 🤪 but yes, think during the week it’s quieter then on on weekends. I loved the architecture. I need t go back and actually have a look at the galleries.

Have been waiting for someone to upload a video of the new Museum so thanks Grant..great presentation and editing..I have no issue with old/new architecture..this is a perfect example of how it can be done..also love the combined name..it’s happening more and more(as it should)..e.g...a lot of the public spaces/parks in Adelaide have both names...this building really adds to the Perth cultural precinct...imo the rest of the precinct needs a bit of a facelift..the library and art gallery are-architecturally- a bit boring..stock standard 1970’s/80’s bland design..some of the attempts to improve the area seems a bit adhoc.and painting purple lines on the brick footpath has always looked like a temporary measure...however I do love the new(ish) city library....in fact that whole area with its beautifully restored buildings is a great asset to Perth...sorry I’ve rambled on a bit...looking forward to more videos of beautiful Perth...Cheers!...p.s @3’47”..great legs😂

Hey Terence.. OMG I think they did an absolutely amazing job with the new museum. I love the old meets new.. I have to go back and actually check out the exhibits. I spent most of that visit just looking at the beautiful architecture. Totally agree with you, the other buildings in the cultural centre do need a face lift.. The Art Gallery is getting a roof top bar and function space, which will give some amazing views of the city too.. But I love how the new Museum has many function spaces in the grand hallways they have, along with the great balcony’s. Ohh.. I love the new Perth city library too, beautifully done.. thanks for your support, really appreciate your comments.. and hey.. my legs come out in a few other videos.. 😉😜👍

Hi Grant ,sorry to HARP ON but if you do a clip of the river Mossman etc you need to come from Stirling Hwy and into Richardson Ave to get the unexpected view of the Swan River onto Mossman foreshore etc then onwards to Freshwater Yacht Club and the Panorama view , feel a bit embarrassed about telling you all this MISS PUSHY 🙄but it will be beneficial to you promise 🤗 🙋‍♀️

Haha Hi Miss Pushy Rosalie.. nah all good. Thanks for the tip, I need information like that as I don’t normally walk a route first to work out best shots etc.. I was walk and shoot as I go.. never knowing whats around the corner sometimes.. I think I’ve driven down that street before and had that unexpected view.. Definitely will go that way to film.. thanks.
