The hot summer bite is on in the Everglades with beautiful 2-5 pound largemouth and a lot of them. I'm using my 1542 tracker car topper all tricked out with a power pole, trolling Motor, depth finder and hand built front deck.
Was just down to south and mid Florida for the first time and loved every minute of the trip. Cant wait to go again . Would love to have Roland show me the glades in his 1542 tracker . My kind of fishing.
I caught a 4lb largemouth on a wacky rig today because mr Martin I believe in you. I see many videos people using the wacky rig but only you inspired me to go out and do it. Thank you once again Mr Martin!!!!
Mmm the head shakes, mmm the tail shakes, um its like a fish swimming but on the vertical. Makes sense to me, plus i discovered it in my area some 30 + years ago, mu Uncle Ray Smith was running from the law, he showed a guy in Florida, that guy told BassMasters magazine he invented it, ok, and that guy got the credit for it, when the entire time i was catching them and invented it here in a pond in N.C.!! Also, i was using a treble hook in the middle !!!! Now aint that something tho Roland!!!
Wacky Time! Gonna employ these excellent techniques, Mr. Martin. Thank you! This RU-vid channel of Rowland Martin’s has opened up a whole new world for this over-worked 59 year old man let me tell you! Makes something so enjoyable so much more enjoyable! Just love it.
Love your videos:) Still laughing about that tooth incident that you fix with super glue haha. Anyway, have you try Spike it garlic spray on worms? I guess you have but if not do a video about it. Bloody hell it smells bad but it work:)
Mr. Martin, I'm brand new to fishing and stumbled upon your RU-vid channel a while back. I'm learning on my own and your channel has been a big help. But when I first started, I was really struggling to even get a nibble. My first couple of attempts were laughably terrible. No bites. No fish. Getting stuck on rocks and plants constantly. Launching my lures into trees. It was awful. I know I was an absolutely pitful sight lol I was just going for some small panfish in some ponds and lakes around here in Massachusetts and had no luck at all. Yesterday I finally decided to mix it up and try some senko fishing that I've seen you do so much of during your videos Well, it paid of big league twice yesterday. My first ever catch was a big old largemouth bass. I could not believe how big it was when I got hold of it. Way bigger than anything I was ever expecting. I didn't have a scale or anything like that with me, but it was a BIG fish. I was shocked at how long the fish was and how heavy it was to hold in my hands. I was totally blown away. I freed it up, admired it for a few seconds and then let it go. My heart was RACING a mile a minute the entire time A little while later I got another bite while using the same set up. This bass was much, much smaller. Not nearly as big as the first, not even close. My first catch totally dwarfed this one. But I was so happy that I was actually managing to catch some fish after struggling so much when first starting out, I didn't care how big it was. I was just happy to finally be catching some dang fish So, I don't know if you'll ever see this but I just wanted to say thank you for doing what you do on RU-vid and thank you for all of the help and advice you've given to so many people. I know my 2 measely catches from yesterday are nothing in comparison to what you and a lot of more experienced fisherman reel in, but I'll never forget that feeling of reeling my first fish. My first fish was a big old bass and I wouldn't have been able to do it without your channel. So thank you!
John H Boyce personally , some colors I prefer Strike King brand. For example , the Strike King watermelon black flake compared to the Yamamoto watermelon black flake . Plus strike king is about half price if not cheaper. 😁
Just want to say man you give the best fishing advice on youtube hands down. Very detailed, when I watch one of your videos I dont have to find other videos for answers you cover it all man.
roland, in your early days did you use monofilament only? and, in todays world, is this fishing line pretty much outdated, or inefficient for today's fishing climate?
man I've been fishing all summer long with my buddy. We haven't caught anything besides 3 or 4 panfish. We are located in the DC area, and have been all over with no luck.
Mr. Martin- The published date for this video says Sep 4, 2019. Is this the day you were fishing cause I thought hurricane Dorian was kicking Florida's butt on the 4th. My fishing friend in Kissimmee was getting his butt kicked by that storm. I would like to know what a storm like Dorian does to fishing for these beautiful Bass.
As soon as we get done here I am going to head over the the Jimmy Houston channel and watch his new video. I really like to see you guys use the newer platforms to keep teaching and entertaining people.
I’ve fished plastics for years....but just got set up to try “Wacky” style. Can’t wait to watch this video Mr Martin. Thank you for doing this video Sir! 🎣
I just saw the latest Jimmy Houston youtube upload. His words. " Roland Martin I consider the greatest Bass Tournament Fisherman of all time." No more debate to be had.... Roland G.O.A.T.
Is it wrong if i use wacky every single time i fish? Im a "if it works keep using it" type of person. I have other lures and what not but i just prefer the wackys guarentee catches.
You can cast farther with weightless baits and lighter lures on a spinning combo. Line doesn't matter i believe, just like roland i use braid on all my poles. But maybe when it comes to spinning and casting combos it might just be personal preference. I use both i like both.
That rig is wacky! I would have never thought of that myself. I always thought you had to rig worms a certain way. But this is funny reminds me of my grandpa. He didn't realize he was on to something. If he would have just moved it some. Maybe as long as it looks wounded [eel maybe]? lol And I still use spinning rod because of my horrible skill with casting reels.
I haven't fished the "wacky rig" all summer, thanks for the reminder Roland. The weekend is right around the corner. I spend my whole last last 3 day weekend putting up those dog gone hurricane shutters. 😖
lol I was going to use the Cat analogy well, Bug flies by, grasshopper jumps, bird lands on the fence and that cat automatically goes right into hunt and catch mode
The wacky rig is what im catching most of my summer bass on. Even in local pressured ponds I can get em by hitting the good spots over and over, increasing the rod tip action til the bass cant stand it.
Roland Martin YOU ARE MY GUY & always have been since I used your BlueFox spinnerbait (my PB 9-2oz) to using Fred Ward & yours Helicopter Lure to anything at all pertaining to bass fishing!!!!!!!! For this I owe you many thanks BUT in this video You threw me for a loop using "reflexively" describing bass instincts so I Googled it and (as usual) you taught me something NEW once again~! re·flex·ive·ly /rəˈfleksivlē/ Learn to pronounce adverb as a reflex, without conscious thought; automatically. "they reflexively oppose policies that could harm their salaries" Never had any doubts (lol) :P
Really love watching your shows as I've learned so much from them. Is there a particular way to spool braid onto a spinning reel? I could use some pointers in that department. Thanks a lot, Roland.
always enjoy your videos... are you ever eat the fish? i got my bag of Senko .. I will see what happen, I am doing kayak fishing this weekend. Thank you for sharing . Martin
Mr. Roland, just wanted to throw out a suggestion. It would be helpful to watch your videos from a first person view. A GoPro would be ideal! It would be highly valuable to see an up close view of your rigging, casting, and the actions you put on your rods when fishing a specific lure. Would love to get that point of view from a legend!
The Wacky Rig fishing resembles a Leech or Crawfish in the water. That's what it reminds me of. But that is only my opinion. But if that fishing method catches fish, that's all that matters. Great Video ROLAND & keep fishing Brother.
That's pretty cool. I was thinking about changing line on my spinning rod. I'll consider this. Only thing is, I also use this rod for crappie and other pan fish. Would you still consider thos type line? Thanks for sharing
So do you always tie on braid with no leader? I’ve been thinking about going to that, just from a convenience standpoint. Wasn’t sure if it really made a difference.
Always have my wacky tied on ! Gary Yamamoto senko usually purple with emerald flake! Ken Carter gave me a bunch at the Paralyzed Veterans of America tournament on the James River Osbourne Landing! I was a Boat Captain! #Rippinlipsinc. on You Tube!
Roland i travel fron Immokalee to miami every other weekend and have seen you multiple times on the roadi know it is a far out question but i thought I'd ask if you would like to join me on a fishing trip on my skiff? I enjoy watching your videos keep it up!!
Really appreciate your comments on the Favorite fishing gear Mr Roland,,, if you ever get time we would love your honest review ,. Thanks so much again for sharing your retirement days w/us! 😀
