I give the complete breakdown for the 3 main ways to use the mighty senko. Using the right rod and reel, the right type of line and weight of line and adding the correct weight to the senko to use in all wind conditions!
Hey Roland, Clinton here in North Charleston, SC. I grew up here in Charleston SC and I love fishing. My grandfather on my mom's side taught me freshwater fishing, from the banks, and my grandfather on my dad's taught me fishing from the beaches and the piers. I really have enjoyed your shows over the years and these youtube videos are a very good learning tool that you put out. You explain things very well! Thank you very much and I hope one of these days I'll be able to do a little more fishing using these methods you have shared to really catch some fish!
I grew up watching you, Bill, and Jimmy on tv learning how to catch bass. Now I’m 49 years old and watching you and Scott on RU-vid still learning how to catch bass. I catch the majority of my bass on a swim senko 297. After watching this video, I’m going to give the wacky rig a shot. Thanks for making these videos.
Everytime your on the dock demonstrating for us, and you throw your lure out, I'm totally expecting a hawg to nail it!! Each time I'm surprised and just a little disappointed when it doesn't happen!! I will be sitting here watching and cheering when, one day, one of your demonstration throws gets hammered by your new personal best!!!! Luv ya, Roland!!!!
Thanks for your vidoes Mr. Martin. Fishing has turned into a great hobby. That feeling you get when reeling in those Bass have no comparison. You and many other youtubers had made it possible for me to catch Bass on the regular.
Thanks for the videos Mr. Martin. The band fishing senko videos are awesome. I've been catching and releasing more bass since I learned of the senko from you. Thanks.
Great video Roland. Thanks again for the tips. I have fished the sinkos before. But never had tried the wacky sinko. But you can bet I will be trying it now lol. Thanks again.
I found one in spring that was stuck to a branch on our pond. Really didn’t think much of them before. I would use rubber worms and that’s it. I’ve been using the past two days. I’m learning so much thanks to you.
When I need weight on my wacky rig, I either use a weighted hook or I insert a nail weight through the middle of the worm,l. Maybe half the nail length away from where the nail will be centered with the hook, then work it through the body until it's centered with the O-ring. This adds weight while allowing the wacky rig to keep its action.
Wow, I never considered how much the wind conditions can impact your ability to effectively throw and work a Texas rig. Thanks for sharing the knowledge Roland.
Like always you are 100% correct, I've been fishing the senko for years and it absolutely is number one! Green pumpkin, salt n pepper and theres something about green with black and red flake that drives them crazy... Thank you for your uploads Roland and thank you mister Yamamoto
Nice video, and great tips. Use a floating worm weight pegged, with a bass casting sinker at different lengths and try that on bottom, or night fish it on the surface with a floating worm weight pegged or wacky style with 2 sets of worm rattles in it. They have worked for me. Sometime's they like new presentations. My two lakes here are pressured hard. All the best.
I use the unweighted Senko wacky rig in Ontario for smallmouth and the occasional walleye in June (except for 2020 & 2021 due COVID). Tannin water, depth usually under 6 ft in rocks. 6.5 ft med, fast action rod, 2000 size Shimano spinning reel. 30 lb. braid, 15 lb. fluorocarbon leader. A great setup. I’ve tried tubes, crawfish, lures, etc., and nothing beats the Yamamoto worms.
Thanks Roland, you are amazingly kind to share your knowledge with your fans. You also present information in an easy to understand way. Where were you fifty years ago when I was taking chemistry in college? God Bless!
I use a nail weight a lot with a senko but I put it in the head instead of the tail and it works great that way. Some people call that a Neko rig. I just call it a senko with a nail weigh. But I like the fact that the worm goes down to the bottom head first rather than tail first to me it's more realistic.
Do you have any other way of supporting your Channel? Or something of that nature that would be awesome I would love to buy a half from you or anything that would further support and doesn't have to be super expensive just something to say hey man I appreciate you appreciate your videos you've been teaching me for over 30 years and I'll continue to learn from you
Thanks for teaching us to fish effectively. I would like to see you make a video on leaders on how and why they get used. I’m still having hard time understanding that braid is very sensitive but if you tie a leader I assume you no longer have that sensitivity since it’s the leader that’s picking up the sensitivity now not the braid. Could you please teach me what I’m not understanding? Thanks.
Lovin your videos...I just scored 3 dc reels shimano scorpion and curado then the slx...being new to baitcasters thought it might help with the learning curve.. Of course you wouldn't need digital help for overspool but just wondered what you think about them?
Are you using a mono backing on the reel to prevent the braid from slipping. Or do you tie on straight braid to the reel with tape or another method? Thanks!
Sir....is the senko your favorite tactic in the colder months here in Florida? After watching your videos I’ve purchased wacky rigs, senkos, frogs, and spinnerbaits. What should I be using for this time of the year?
Roland, can you discuss risk reward of hi-vis braid vs the moss green ? yellow braid would make line watching easier, but noticed you are using a greenish braid. Bass see the braid even with the leader?
I have actually never used a SENKO, I have caught bass on the general powerbait max scent. I am going to have to catch some fish on the Gary Senko. See what all they hype is about
You wont regret it, I fished power bait motor oil worms for years and then never looked back. For the most part i "personally" like to fish senkos weightless and wacky rigged with no O ring.
Rylan Adams it helps a lot to fish waters that have double digit bass in them in substantial numbers. Fishing in the time that the fish are in shallow waters and full of eggs helps too. Believing that your going to catch fish helps also.
I use a small aluminum cigar tube. I roll the o-rings on the outside, you put the Senko inside the tube and roll the o-ring onto your Senko. It works great and the tube holds all your rings. Cheaper the tool.
