Amanda, I am a blind crocheter, and I have been following your channel for a few months now. I absolutely love the waffle stitch, and it is perfect for a scarf. You are very good at describing how to make the stitches and complete your patterns. Your voice is very calming and easy to understand. I am definitely going to make this scarf. I am sure it will be very warm because of the waffle texture.

Hi Haley! That’s amazing! I could only imagine the skills it takes to crochet, but you’re probably a natural 😊 the waffle stitch is definitely a fun pattern to make. It provides lots of texture, which in turn makes this a very warm and thick stitch. It’s perfect for scarves and blankets. Thank you for following my channel and enjoying all the videos I make. It truly means a lot to me! Happy crocheting! 😊🧶

Thank you. Crocheting is a fun and relaxing hobby I have had since I was in high school. One of my friends who was senior when I was a freshman taught me how to crochet. I used to crochet in class while listening to my teachers talk. It helped me to concentrate. I always look forward to learning new stitches and patterns.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I have tried this stitch many times and always ripped it apart because it never looked like a waffle. I tried your tutorial and I am on row 7 and it looks great and like a waffle! By far this is THE best tutorial to learn this stitch. You go slow and make it very understandable and more importantly, make it look like a waffle!

I don't know where you live but if i lived near you and you have a crochet class I would definitely love to join. Ik this is going to sound crazy but I've tried a variety of tutorials on RU-vid bcz I really want to crochet my grandson a scarf for Christmas and I desperately wanted to make it with the waffle stitch. I couldn't get it no matter how hard I tried and was about to give up but you somehow popped up lol. Again, like the others I followed you instructions and was shocked when the few rows I did looked just like yours😊. I think they were using x's of 3 whereas you use 3's +2. At any rate ur awesome and your voice is kinda soothing 😊😊😊. Tyfs God bless you

Beautiful! Can I use the waffle stitch to make a matching ear warmer? If so, any tips?
@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets Год назад
Yes of course! I would look at my hat patterns to get the head size needed for the ear warmer. Then I would make 6-8 rows of this for the width. You can play around with how thick you want this ear warmer. Hope that helps!

Yes of course! I’ve made this scarf using a foundation chain and the traditional chaining method as shown in the video 😊
@LoveIsAlwaysHereChooseLove
@LoveIsAlwaysHereChooseLove 2 года назад
To get the waffle pattern on both sides, can you join together two scarves, so double the thickness, so just the waffle pattern shows? Is there a thinner yarn to use to accomplish this so the scarf isn't toooooo thick? I love the waffle pattern, but not so much the double crochet pattern on the reverse side. Your video is fantastic. You are a natural teacher! You make it so easy to follow! Thank you!
@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets 2 года назад
Thank you!! For the waffle stitch, the waffle part only shows on one side. It’s not a reversible stitch, meaning it won’t look the same on both sides. You could try a lighter weight yarn and sew them together to achieve the look you’re going for. It’s, totally up to you!

How wide and long is your scarf using the one Caron big cake? Thanks for the tutorial! I am going to make it for my daughter who loves plantain waffles, gluten free version!
@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets 3 года назад
The scarf is 6 inches wide by 66 inches long. This was made with two Caron cakes, so I would assume one cake would make the scarf be around 33 inches long.

Thank you so incredibly much for the tutorial!! You explained it so well and it looks stunning! I’m new to crochet and have just found your channel and you really are an excellent teacher! Thank you!!! May I ask, I have lion brand feels like butta yarn in charcoal (and teal). Do you think this yarn would be ok for it? Or is a yarn with more stitch definition better? I’m so overwhelmed by it all!! Lol! Thank you so incredibly much again!
@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets 2 года назад
You're very welcome! Thank you for your kind words, and I'm so happy you found my channel. Yes, you can use that yarn for this project. My suggestion is, you can try out a yarn and make a few rows to see if you like it. If not, you can always save the yarn for another project instead. I've made many swatches of larger projects to test yarn out. I've never used that yarn before, but I know it feels heavenly. I think it would be a great alternative! Happy crocheting :) :)

i have tried it a few times and where you have one stitch left after the last Fpdc, i always have 2. I have 12+ 2 stiches to start with...not sure where I am going wrong.

You will never be a real Marxist. You have no theory, you have no idol, you have a hundred revisionism accusations. You are a revisionist twisted by Kautsky and Demsocs into a crude mockery of communism’s perfection. All the “support” you get is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back people mock you. Your parents are disgusted and ashamed of you, your “friends” laugh at your pathetic revisionism behind closed doors. Orthodox Marxists are utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of evolution have allowed Marxists to sniff out revisionists with incredible efficiency. Even revisionists who “pass” look revisionist and dumb to a Marxist. Your disagreement with me is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a drunk Marxist home with you, he’ll turn tail and bolt the second he gets a whiff of your diseased, infected revisionist ideas. You will never be happy. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight. Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll buy a rope, tie a noose, put it around your neck, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your parents will find you, heartbroken but relieved that they no longer have to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. They’ll bury you with a headstone marked with your birth name, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a stalinist is buried there. Your body will decay and go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy is a skeleton that is unmistakably revisionist.

If you're still not getting 1 stitch left, you can always make your last DC into the CH and skip the extra stitch. This will be hidden and you should be able to continue with the pattern without any problems.

So there are not BLO stitches in this, to make the ridge/bottom border between rows of blocks? I just made the waffle stitch hat, and it had alternating rows of BLO stitches as the bottoms & tops of the waffle blocks, and FP stitches as the sides. I see FPs here but no BLOs; is that because we're turning the work (and it's not possible to turn the work when making a hat in the round)?
@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets 3 года назад
That's correct, there are no BLO in this pattern. You will only work DC stitches and FPDC stitches. It's possible that the hat pattern you were following had the BLO stitches because you were working in the round versus back and forth like in this scarf pattern. If you were to turn your work in the waffle hat, you will have every other row look different instead of having the "waffle" look all on the outside of your hat. I hope this helps!

@@AmandaCrochets Thank you kindly for answering! I am self-taught via RU-vid so there are LOTS of technical things I don't yet know. I only started crocheting in earnest during the pandemic and there's so much to learn. I've only finished a few projects, and really want a waffle stitch scarf to go with my hat. Thanks again. Will re-try the pattern later this week. Currently busy attempting the Celtic Knot pattern with a Caron cake 🤞

@@candice_ecidnac You're welcome! I try my best to respond and help everyone. There is definitely a lot to learn when learning how to crochet. I think it's amazing that you're self-taught with RU-vid! Some patterns take a little more time to understand, but it's worth it in the end.
