Three veteran scouts are leading a wagon train of settlers to the Oregon Territory. Fearing that an influx of settlers and merchants-to-follow would tear down his empire of fur-trading and exploitation of the Indians, Murdock has his henchmen pose as Indians in an effort to halt the western expansion.

Good movie, lots of interesting side plots goin' on amidst the general mayhem of a cross-country stroll, carrying every worldly possession you could manage to fit in a rickety old Prairie Schooner! Good to see Gail Patrick who only two years later would play the glamorous Cornelia Bullock (In my favorite, "The Case of the Missing Pearl Necklace"). Thanks Pizza, another score! 💖 🇨🇦

Just like Zane Grey. Classic. - This film made you feel like you were actually seeing harsh struggle as well as the immense beauty surrounding such primitive travel.

This move is based on some facts. The orginal movie was in 1930 john wayne followedv1931, and this one all are great movies

Gary Cooper made a movie in 1931, called, "Fighting Caravans." With only a few tweaks, this is the same movie.

Good catch! Wagon Wheels is a 1934 remake of 1931's Fighting Caravans, even using some stock footage from the original! Both films are based on the same Zane Grey novel. Watch for Gary Cooper in Fighting Caravans coming soon to PizzaFLIX.

interesting. major studio westerns were a dud for most of the 1930s until John Ford's Stagecoach. One could see why- action scenes are a bit stilted.

I'm sure that the reality of these scenes of struggle was more "stilted". Very brave men and women but no one is equal to such harsh realities - especially brutal struggles with weather, possible starvation, and Indians. So many died or suffered in unimaginable ways. Those were real "action" scenes.

Well, that may be true, but "Natives" took it from someone else... There are NO indigenous people in the North American Continent. They all migrated in the millenniums prior to their occupation of the north american continent... Same with South America and a host of other "Countries"... so get over it... it's the way this world evolved...Do you homework and get over the PC bull shit...

It isn't BS or PC.Our global society hasn't evolved at all. We are still fighting each other over land, resources,ideologies and beliefs. And Free Trade is just another way to wage war. The strong force the weak to agree to terms which favour the strong. They call it Capitalism but it is war.
