Ditching my FlowBee and trying out the Wahl Color Pro Hair Clipper kit from Walmart. Used the #8 1" attachment on the top followed by left and right taper attachments on the sides. It does a decent job for a self cut.

Been trying to find a video that shows an easy way to give yourself a taper cut and your video explains everything nicely. Haircut came out really great. I will grow my hair out and try this!

I have a full clipper set, 2 trimmers, the shaving cream and razor. I am wondering if you would be interested in using them, and giving me what they call a recon haircut, very short on the top, and the back and sides razor shaved all the way up to the poridal ridge area and that high all the way around from side to side. I would appreciate it, and I can pay you for it too, plus I'd be sitting there enjoying every minute of the haircut you were giving me, the haircut that I described.

Good job! With a cheap pair of clippers,looks as good as a professional barber. When I was in my early 20s I got tired of high prices and never cutting it the same each time,so I started cutting my own,now 67 still doing it,but I use a vacuum hair cutter similar to Robo cut

Me too, I use a Flobee. I have kids now, one likes not to get a haircut so, the hair is too long for the Bee. I too bought the Color Pro, good luck to me this gent made it easy. I'm only 61. 😊

It's pretty easy, the trickier part is then blending the line above the taper but you should figure it out after a couple of tries.

Flowbee and clippers are the best combination but only clippers are good,too.I love the ear taper guards. They had this clipper for 20€ with that trimmer here in Germany last week.

John - Thanks for the helpful video. Question if you will - your hair is standing up which probably makes for a better cut because it holds your hair where the clippers can reach it with the 1" guard. Did you do that intentionally do that for the hair cut and did you use a product to hold it up?

Hey! Question, when you first did the number 8 all around, did you have lever all the way up or down? And was the lever all the way up or down with the fade taper attachments?

I don't remember exactly but I probably left the lever longer on the top and shorter on the sides.

Thanks this video is exactly what I needed to see, everyone had tutorials on how to fade and use scissors on top but this is the first video I found where the clippers are used on top as well (which I want to do, I dont feel comfortable messing with scissors for my first time). Just wondering do you know where I could get a number 12 (1.5 inch) guard? I would like to leave a bit more hair on top if possible and online I saw that number 12s exist but I couldnt find where to buy them exactly. Im in the US.

No, the taper attachments really aren’t good, they’re like training wheels. Look up “Andrew cuts” here on RU-vid, he gives good tutorials on how to fade.

I would have loved to have had you have me sitting in a chair with the cape around my neck, while you used your clippers with the #2 guard on them, and cut all my hair a 1/4 of an inch short, then cut the back and sides with them using your clippers and no guard, all the way up to the poridal ridge area, and that high all the way around from side to side, then take the shaving cream and razor, and shave the back and sides, all the way up to where you stopped cutting it off, shaving them very nice and smooth.

To me the 8 is a waste of time. As i wind up with a 2 or 1 i start out with a 3 or 4. If your going to cut your hair do something.
