I love my KICKR, only complaint is when using my Bolt for rides, Bluetooth interference is a big issue with that. Drops KICKR, HR, Cadence, sometimes one sometimes all of them. Turning off my Bluetooth on my phone seems to help, but that also eliminates me being able to use my phone for music with Powerbeats pro.
Nice video and overview of this trainer. I've got the Kickr Core. I would consider an update this fall although this trainer has been fine over the years. I'll probably go ahead and wait and see what Wahoo does next or see if any other companies end up doing anything interesting. Thanks for the video!
one thing and it actually in the manual it says to put the blue nut up against the kickr feet on both legs that will get you the rocking motion i only just found this out tonight so im still testing if i like it but i actually feel the legs are not lifting which was a major complaint i had with the trainer when i had it with the blue nut against the caps. It says it in the manual but not with pictures as it should.
Looking to pick this one up today. Should I include the rubber mat as well? Not sure if it will make a difference on the sound and floor vibration. Great long term review by the way! It really helps us newbies a lot :)
Hello ! thanks for this review ! have you noticed a buzzing sound though ? It's like an electric interference. You can hear 2 to 3 seconds after the flywheel completely stops.
I wonder when we will see the next editions of the top smart trainers. I assume around September/October. Also interested to see if they choose to not sell the unit with cassette as more and more people seem to be now on Sram making the purchase with a Shimano 11spd cassette a waste. Also curious to what new features they will have on the next version.
Hi, Thanks for the video and all the reviews. Very well done. Just subscribed. I bought a kickr v5 at the end of May 2021 and absolutely love it. I do have a question and hope to hear your take on it. I have been using squirt (wax) lube on my chain. It works well but all the black balls of wax on the floor around the trainer drive me crazy. I allow the wax to completely dry after application and wipe down the chain several times before riding. My question to you is: what type of lube do you use - wax, dry, or wet? If you use dry or wet lube do you have any issues with it being messy? Thanks, Chuck
I use the Rock n Roll dry lube amzn.to/3pNppQP My guess is your chain is dirty causing the balls of wax you described. Try cleaning it before applying the wax. Also, when my chain is too dirty and hard to clean, I just end up replacing it :)
I ride my KICKR 5 on zwift and sometimes it seems like when i go downhill the cadence is getting harder and uphill it's getting easier... the speed goes down in zwift and it's not getting harder... I don't know what to do about that :(
I would check if you are riding in sim mode or erg mode (doing a workout). When in erg mode, the resistance doesn’t change based on the terrain and instead it will change to match the target watts for each interval.
