Just bought the Wahoo Tickr. Right out of the box the battery cover broke just trying on the strap. Didn’t even touch it. I’m going to return it and buy the Garmin.
Battery compartment on the Garmin is a bit strange indeed, but honestly how often do you really need to change battery? On the other hand, the box can stay attached on the Garmin between the exercises, when taking the strap on and off, while with the Wahoo strap system you always need to take the box off as well. Not sure how long this will last.
I have changed 3 heart rate monitors from wahoo. Literally stopped working on me out of nowhere and honestly I hate it because wahoo is amazing on the computer. Today I bought a garmin to pair it with my wahoo and tomorrow I will give it a try and see how it goes. At this point I’m tired of wahoo always failing on me when it comes to the heart rate monitors
The battery is a big issue to replace with the garmin my heart rate died becouse i tried to replace the battery And twisted the screws you are spot on with garmin battery compartment
After switching to wahoo from Garmin computer and HR strap I have had 2 straps and thrown both tickers out no support and totally unreliable. Wahoo computer has been fine however Im looking to go back to a Garmin strap pairing it to the wahoo computer.
Actually, the biggest problem with Wahoo TICKR is the battery compartment. The pins of the battery cover easily brake and after that the device has to go in the bin. My Wahoo TICKR last less than a year
The Wahoo WILL get sweat in the battery compartment and short out (ask me how I know). I think the HRM's that have straps to go between the HRM and your chest are better.
Just purchased the Wahoo Tickr and I must say I am not impressed with connectivity/strap :( I found I had to find the right spot for the sensors to read my bpm which was 3mm over my nipples. The gen 1 version strap was click and bang on your way, gen 2 a lot of fluffing around.
I've not owned the Garmin, so yeah, perhaps the battery cover with the screws is "horrible". But...I had 3 Tickrs in 18 months. And I can guarantee the battery cover is HORRIBLE!. There are tiny plastic pieces that always break. When they do, it won't hold the battery so just throw it away!
