Waino, I know you see it every day in the park but you have absolutely no idea how many fans you have. There's so many thousands of people that can't get to the park cuz we just live too far away. You've touched the hearts and lives of so many more people than you'll ever realize.
A lump in the throat listening to you, Waino. You are right, "I did what I came here to do," which, since I also just retired, is a great feeling to have as you go. But don't fly too far away. We want to see you every chance we get.
Adam from age 7 to 88. I have been a cardinal fan who lives baseball and country music. Thank you for sharing your faith and life with us. God's smiling . ❤❤
That's a damn good song! Thanks, Mr. Wainwright. "He can throw an unhittable curveball to the best in the majors, but can he write a good song, play the guitar and sing?" "Why, yes! Yes he can!"
I've listened to this song about 15 times today...goosebumps & tears each time!!! I love it!!❤😢⚾️ I sure hope it will be on your CD in 2024!!! Thanks for being you!!
I remember before you became a Cardinal, I heard about you being drafted by Atlanta, and I was jealous. I was like "Why can't the Cardinals get someone like that!? “, and lo and behold we DID end up getting you, and I have to say, you certainly never disappointed! I'm proud you were a Cardinal your whole career, and seeing you and Yadi together was amazing. I've been a Cardinal fan since I was a little girl. Grew up listening with my grandpa, and mom. I'm 52 now, and I've seen a lot of awesome Cardinals baseball, and you made it the best. Thank you for all the wonderful memories! Enjoy your WELL DESERVED retirement, and thanks for this beautiful song! ❤
Miss you already, Uncle Charlie! Thank you for all you did for our Cardinals and our StL community! Now enjoy your darling family and Louie. We’ll enjoy your music. Come back and see us, y’hear?!!❤❤❤
Beautiful tune written to the beat of an amazing career and heartbeat of THE Cardinal nation! Way to go out, Uncle Charlie!! Thank you for always bringing us your best every fifth day and being the perfect ambassador to St. Louis.
A screen grab of that unforgettable 0-2 ringup of the fearsome Carlos Beltran to propel the Cardinals into the 2006 World Series hangs in a place of honor in my man cave. Your rookie year then, your swan song today, and nothing but beautiful memories in between. Thank you sir! And from one singer to another, what a tremendous job on this song!
You will never be forgotten, Adam Wainwright. This song is just perfect. We hate to see you leave, but understand that it's time to go home. As you say, you will always be a Cardinal and in the heart of St. Louis. Thanks for the memories and your example on how to be a good person.
We don't deserve Adam, nor the incredible legacy and heart that is THE CARDINAL WAY. In tears from Nashville, headed to see Mr. Waino at the Grand Ole Opry tonight. You truly don't know the good times till they're in the rear view. We love you Waino, and we love you Yadi!!!!
Wow, it’s been a pleasure and honor to have shared the last 20 years with this quality human being representing the baseball team I’ve loved all of my 71 years. Enjoy your retirement big guy!!!!
Thank you, Adam. Thanks for your ready smile, wit, kindness and happy, invigorating presence here in St. Louis. I just heard you'll be heading home to GA and wowing us all with your talent in your newest career as a TBS color man. This fan tips her cap to you for that, this great song, a terrific career as a Cardinal and being such a great part of St. Louis for as long as we had you. I wish the best of luck to you and your wonderful family. Can't wait to see what you'll do next!
Even as a Diehard Cub Fan,I have been proud to follow your career with the Cardinals, but you have found a talent most Cards fans didn't know you had!On behalf of Cards fans,Cubs fans, and all fans of baseball...it is time for you to fly...but maybe one day in both the Baseball and Country Music Halls of Fame
HOF, been a pleasure watching you all these years, thanks for the memories, you won the last game I saw in person, September 3rd last year, Yadi hit a double, Albert almost went yard, enjoy being the Uber driver. Lol
You were among them great ,loved & gave your all to the fans but this is your time to fly so God bless you & your family & May the rest of your dreams come true your a great country western singer you’ll love Nashville Tennessee I lived there for 10 yrs & I was raised & grew up in collinsville & went to slit of Cardinal games you’ll make it big in country your fans are rooting for you 🙏🏻🇺🇸✝️👍🏻⭐️
I remember just having moved to StL and going to an Outreach event at First Free in spring 2006. Adam was young and unknown but friendly, humble and really tall. Seeing him strike out Beltran and throw the last inning of the 2006 World Series in person was stunning. It was nice to see him innocent, young and good. He never changed a bit. Mamma Wainwright, you did good.
You toed the rubber from the time I was 26 to the time I was 43 yrs old!!! Been a pleasure to watch one of the last Old School pitchers do it the "Cardinal Way".......good luck Waino and congrats!
Being born in St. Louis, Cardinal baseball was a staple, even in the womb, it was always on. On the radio in my grandparents home, on the radio in my bedroom on a Sunday afternoon as I did my homework from far away in Mississippi. And later, on TV when we could get it. It is in my DNA. Wainwright became just like Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Orlando Cepeda, Mike Shannon, Ozzie, Matt Holiday, and many more, all favorites. Thank you to Adam for being part of the most consistent memories of my life, a love of Cardinal baseball handed down through my family. I guess I dropped the ball because my daughter somehow became a Braves fan, the next best thing.
I remember when he was a closer for the cardinals, and got the save in the '06 world series. He has had a tremendous career, and i hope he has a wonderful retirement. He will always be a part of the cardinals, long live Adam Wainwright
Just listened to your song again!! Probably 25 times now! Still gets me ! Love you and will sure miss you!! Can't wait for your CD to come out!! Sure hope it gets publicized here on Facebook by one of the sites by the Cardinals!! I sure don't want to miss getting one or 2...you know one for my car and one for the house!❤😊
Attention Waino........with you as pitching coach, Albert as hitting coach and Yadi as the manager the St. Louis Cardinals would be AMAZING for another 20 years!!!!!!
Matt Carpenter's walk up song made me like country music, now Adam Wainwright is my favourite country artist. Idk if that's full circle but I'm sure it's something.
@@kennysfdg471 some people out there on youtube and especially twitter calling him selfish over staying this season. Hell, one guy called him a flat out narcissist
@@sethb8177 Drugs will do that. But in all seriousness, Waino thought he could make one final year special. It didn't go the way he expected, but nonetheless it's still great.
How many times do you say "Good Bye" before you finally leave? Lou Gerhig was frickin dying and said good bye in a two minute speech. It took Wainwright 6 months. Pity Sakes.....Take that dumb gimmick phone with you please.
