The way Lelouch bowed before Nunally and took the scepter with such tenderness and care from her hands. You can tell by his words that he didn't just love Nunally,. She was his world, his reason for rebelling and becoming Zero. But now he realized that she didn't need him anymore, allowing him to become the enemy that would unite the world and fight to the bitter end. It was all for Nunally.
You clearly didn't understand Lelouch's character if you didn't clearly see that he did love Nunally. Did you even watch R1 or R2? He says multiple times that Nunally is the very reason that he rebelled against Britannia. Want proof? Watch the beginning of R2. When he had his memories suppressed, he had very little reason or will to rebel. Hell he abandoned the Black Knights due to Nunally being kidnapped at the end of R1, and in R2 he almost quits constantly due to Nunally's new postion. So I can't tell if you actually watched the series or if you're just a troll
I cannot tell you how wrong you are. He never wanted to rule the world. He just wanted to destroy the Britannian Empire to avenge his mother and bring peace for his sister. I can't exactly tell you when but around the time when he gets cast out by the Black Knights and him discovering his mother was colluding with his father to make the new world, his plans change. That plan is Zero Requiem. First, he becomes emperor of the very empire he hated. Then, he destroy his opposition, looking like the bad guy. Finally, colluding with his best friend (which HATED him midway through the series for killing Euphy) kills himself to end the cycle of hate and revenge. His sister becomes the empress bringing peace that she always wanted. The end. I fucking swear if you somehow manage to even bring any 'evidence' against this. Before you comment however, look him up first or ask other people in forums. If that still doesnt change yr mind, then sorry to say but frankly speaking you might want to check yr head.
Anime protagonists are so ridiculously selfless, it makes me sick. Why can't be there a selfish bastard who just wants to rule the world?!? And i was fucking tired of Nunnally! In his place i would have been disappointed to see her alive. She is weak, naive and antipathic.
It's because Lelouch wanted to get punished for his sins. For euphie and for many other things he did. And he is ruling the world. Even after his death he watches the world from behind and waits until his ressurection. As Zero
He wasted his only shot at giving Nunally a Geass for a small, short term order. He will never be able to use it again on her. That’s miles away from the Geass he gave Suzaku and Schneizel, which will impact their actions for the rest of their lives. In a way, it shows how much he cared for his sister and wanted her to be free, not bound by any Geass.
@@ammarshahzad9627 only her blindness was Psychological but she was crippled genuinely to make her look like a real witness. Thus she was able to finally see because she broke Charlse's geass
Lelouch was aware from the beginning that using wide-ranging geass on someone is dangerous and fucks up their mind, it's why he avoided doing it. It's only at the very end that he started using the blunt "Obey everything I say without question" geass on people, which practically reduces them to the status of a zombie. The fact that he was willing to start doing that en-masse was a sign of how much he'd abandoned any sense of morality he once had.
@@dark7element not quite true either, he only started to use these commands after he decided that he would die for true peace, so the blunt "Obey every I say without question" would be nullified once he's gone.
Lelouch was never truly evil, people compare him to Light Yagami but Light loses his sense of goodwill and humility and truly thinks he's the "God" of his new world. Lelouch never forgot his purpose it was an act the entire time right up to his death. He knew he'd have to die for Nunally and the world's sake.
Lelouch was never evil. He just had to do terrible things to achieve his goals. Light on the other hand came of as a psychopath that cared for no one but himself and thought he was superior to everyone. I don't think he truly ever had any "goodwill" or humility. He definitely had a concept of justice but it was warped.
+Ash I think in the beginning Light did have good intentions at first but he looses sight about what's important and the people around him. So yeah he did have that warped sense of justice you're talking about
It's for the aesthetics lol hahahah But maybe for.her to not go anywhere. If she plans on going she'll fall and not be able to move even further. ...that's gotta be a dick move tho
Regardless, if she said that, she still told him to do it multiple times. They make it out to look like he was going to Geass her anyways, but as seen in the episode Lelouch didn't even think about it until Nunnally told him (he didn't even know she would open her eyes). My guess was he was going to rip it out of her hands and then chuck her down the stairs.
The idea that anything justifies the deaths and enslavement of millions of people is laughable. What if his plan had failed, at any point along the way? All of those atrocities would have been for nothing. What if his plan didn't unite the world, and the world leaders instead fell to bickering after his death? What's stopping LeLouch's empire from ending up like Napoleon's Empire, Attila the Hun's empire, Alexander the Great's empire, and Genghis Khan's empire? As soon as the supreme leader who had created the empire was gone, the empire immediately plunged into chaos and infighting, not unity or peace.
@@dragonslair951167 Then it's a good thing those you mentioned stayed as what ifs then. The series clearly showed what happened after lelouch's sacrifice and the results were clearly better than what it was in the past. As kallen said in the end, "everything was according to plan."
@@dragonslair951167 What he did also did not justify anything. He paid for his numerous atrocities with his death and the brunt of hatred of the people. Only a select few knew of his intentions and none of them condoned it whatsoever, instead, they were just sad that this had to happen to him or any of them. None of his actions in the anime is glorified as far as I can tell, but his intentions were clearly understood.
The way he switches to his demon mask right after the geass ends is brilliant. It's sad knowing that none of Lelouch's thoughtful words to his sister got through cause of the Geass, but that he said them to reconfirm his own self, and his beliefs and wishes.
How people can say that Lelouch and Light are the same. They're totally different! Light become a monster, because he was bored. He wanted to become theGod of the world. At first he may have wanted to fix it, but power he got was too much for him. He cared for no one, loved no one. Lelouch on the other hand always had in mind his aim. He became monster in order to save the world. He died for it. And he never stopped loving Nanally and his friends. Light was devil, Lulu was messiah of the world.
*Lmao haven't really watched both shows but I got to see some episodes of Death Bote albeit really dropped around not even the first half but it's pretty obvious Light was twisted from the start.*
She was the reason, he was willing to become a monster and destroy his name and connections and be viewed as evil for the rest of history just to create a peaceful world for her brotherly love at its finest people
@@EvelynL.1112 People are disappointed at her since she was easily turned against her older brother, while her brother did everything in his might during their exile to protect her and care for her.
@@hawkeye171 the ending was the best of the best which is until the end of season 2 but they just had to make a new series to milk the cashcow that is this series I suggest you watch lelouch of the rebellion s1 and 2 and stop at that
GOD, if I had been Lelouch, I couldn't have let Nunnally fall. My respect to Lulu for keeping his composture and continuing playing his "demon" role. ALL HAIL LELOUCH!! ALL HAIL BRITANNIA!!
@@kay-kay6483 He did. Britannia was the Emperor. And Clovis nuked the capital city. Effectively the Empire is done for. Logistically you'd need to peel your borders back all the way to North America. That leaves the zones to become their own nations again.
Ffs. This scene. Fuck off. Damnit. My heart. If only she knew. The punchline suckered well past my stomach in the final ep. Oh! My tears! Respectfully withdraw thyselves!
Lelouch is the best fictional character ever, he did whatever he had to do despite it hurting him along the way…all of that pain he went through because he just wanted a world of peace…ALL HAIL LELOUCH!
His expression at the end tho,, like how Nunally said he's the devil and he's devious plus she fell down the stairs, imagine how Lelouch badly wanna help her up and apologize for using the his Geass on the only person he'd definitely refuse on casting to. The pain on his face is clear but diminishes it because he gotta do what he gotta do and move forward with a brave front.
all lelouch plans is for a better world and for her little sister :( :( he became a devil/evil for those plans, all the pains he takes is for the better world that nanually wanted
His expression at the end is pretty subtle, it's not even entirely on screen, and still you can see he cares a lot, but just can't go back now. 13 years and it's still one of the best shows I've ever watched.
I always love analysing this scene, the staircase represents and "good", as lelouch descends from being "good" into the depths of hell below, nunally attempts to chase but falls and is unable to be bad and fall from being good because of lelouch, just like how lelouch ruined nunally's plans of being the bad person for the world to hate. Lelouch becomes bad, and desends the stairs - and nunally can't because lelouch stopped her.
You're over analysing it. Not everything has to be symbolic in anime dude. Relax and watch the scene. Keep your super analysing skills for cinema or smth
Well, animation is a form of cinema. Taking 6 years of film classes have ruined film for me - can't help but analyze scenes constantly anymore :'( Code Geass though, is one of those few animes that I can analyze and enjoy analyzing because it blows my mind when I do it at how genious it is.
Well, it may seem like its just a 'staircase' but a lot of the time if you've gotten into storytelling or cinematography, you get into habits of portraying certain signs with certain signifiers subconsciously. For example, many writers and directors automatically place characters that have a higher power in the scene higher up - or have characters that are evil be tall to signify their power over the other character, and shift dynamics and height when power changes. More commonly however, is the feeling of cold with blue, or heat with red which is an obvious one that comes naturally to most.
Kyle Li Never looked at it that way... It's a good analogy but I feel like we're all missing the point here. Why does Nunnally, a disabled individual, have a staircase in her fucking room?
It's more emotional than u think bro even if u have the power to control the world wouldn't it be more satisfing to have a love one stand by u when have no one turn too or trust.
J'Marcus Hollis Well, i wouldn't want someone so weak and pathetic like her. And how can you be so sure the so-called loved one will not betray you? Better the satisfaction and joy of conquest no matter how brief, rather than believe in illusions.
+Asian Teoh I know your comment is from 2 years ago but it was a play on words using Geass for gas. Or maybe it was such a complex joke that no one will ever understand it's true meaning.
This one is one of the best anime series I ever watched especially this scene when a hero had to disguise as tyrant to bring peace for the earth so he cant drop the act even in font of his most beloved sister.
I knew the moment I saw this Lelouch wasn't just being evil, I could see it on his face the whole time. He was struggling to keep a straight face the whole time
Which moron puts stairs in a room for a girl wirh a wheelchair?? I know Schneizel was just using her, so maybe it was intentional so she couldn't leave. But still, what an asshole.
This scene always hurts to watch. Not just because of Nunally’s look of betrayal from her dear brother, but that brief look of pain on Lelouch’s face as he walked away. He knew what he did was reprehensible but also knew he was past the point of turning back..
How could he? Because Nunnally didn't deserve all of the world's hate. Lelouch would take that upon himself, then sever the chain of hate with his own death.
This man literally twists his own words so people KNOW he did something he didn’t do or mean to, this man WANTS to make everyone hate him, even at the start. This man needs some happiness sometimes.
This, lelouch is so dedicated, he works so hard for everything, in the last few arks he’s gone through, he chose his life, he could have lived at the top of the world, but he chose to risk all that to live alone, he had to take from the people he tried so hard to protect, he killed people that didn’t deserve it all as fault for his error, he sacrificed his power for the people, he is the best
You can see his frustration and hurt in his face at the end when he desperately wanted to pick her up and help her but he had to keep the evil persona and left her there.
lelouch vi britannia: revolutionary, mastermind, emperor, tyrant, but most importantly... he is the man who destroyed the world and created it anew all for his little sister. all for nunnally. the greatest big brother in an anime... aside from ace and itachi of course (though itachi did torture sasuke, so that brings him down for me). may he rest in peace...
