I agree with y’all! Another great thing about waiting is you know that person you are dating isn’t just here for the intimacy, they want you, not just what they can get from you. It definitely shows people’s true colors.

@@phumlashongwe I would say that it’s for reputation and trust. Someone who has slept with a bunch of people may have a bad reputation or you might feel like you’re just another person on their list. @@Mosquito910. I mean if they marry you, they 100% love you and it doesn't matter if you had sex before or after the marriage. Same as the next comment - like does it really matter that much if sex is just something fun to do or a special thing? I don't know I'm not married, didn't wait till then (not sure I even want to get married ever lol), definitely no regrets. But where I feel it might be worth it is the foundation of communication, trust and friendship before the wedding (if there is actually a long time like years, not if you get married in 2 months just to have sex lol that's something a lot of people do no matter if they wait till marriage or not). Not sayiny you can't have all that when you don't wait but I think you'll find out easier if you are compatible with each other. I think for me waiting is cool for a while to get to know each other very well but also I wouldn't want to marry someone and agree to be with them for the rest of my life if I didn't have sex with them. There can be a lot of issues in that aspect and it's definitely a topic I would hate to have problems with my husband because of that.

I have 2 kids from a previous marriage. But I know that for him and I we see relationships differently and that makes it hard. And studies prove that women who have been sexually active before marriage are less satisfied in marriage and they have more of a chance of divorce and I can definitely agree with that. I have been divorced twice and married for a third time. I love my husband more then anything but I definitely to miss all the attention and I think that’s what makes us less satisfied because we are so use to all the attention.

@@rudalph5923honestly, when you are able to let go of purity culture and enjoy sex, it adds a whole other layer of enjoyment to your life. While I support people who choose to wait, it’s fine to have sex just because you enjoy it, and it’s not going to emotionally crush you like some people like to say if you break up. I didn’t have sex with my high school boyfriend of three years, and I don’t regret that, but the breakup was crushing compared to other relationships I’ve had simply because we were so emotionally close. Plus I have a baby with my now fiancée and it’s the best thing that ever happened to me- I wouldn’t have had him if I waited and I have NO regrets. Honestly I feel it's not as hard if you set up hard boundaries on what's not allowed and if your familes are heavily involved. Me and my girl are going on our second year and we're waiting until marriage too. It hasn't been that hard since we don't spend alone time in secluded areas and the farthest we set to go is kissing. We had a sit down and talk about what the boundaries would be pretty early into the relationship, so that definitely helped.
@Tm-gg2mz
@Tm-gg2mz Год назад
I am an orthodox Jew and we wait till marriage. However, we don't even touch or spend time alone in a secluded area until we are married because it's too easy and very natural to "mess up" even when you want to wait. We also have super short engagement periods and don't see each other a ton once engaged for the same reason. It is so hard though and I can't believe you guy's were able to wait even while touching- thats got to make it so much harder! For us, the not touching takes away some of the unavoidable sexual tension so it makes it easier in that sense but still so hard! My husband and I dated for 6 weeks and were engaged for 2 months. It sounds crazy short but we're just super focused when dating (making sure we're on the same page with values, goals, ect, know that we're both dating for marriage...) our communies tend to have above average successful, happy marriages and much lower divorce rates so it seems to be working :) Definitely waiting for the right person is in the best interest of both people. I don't know any married person who is like "yeah, I really wish I messed around more with other partners before getting married..."

@@jjhawkrDifferent people want different things, which are usually based on our beliefs, age, personality, upbringing, and what’s going on in our lives then and there. Some people date or are engaged a long time and some for a very short time. I don’t think in our teen years it’s really best to decide a “forever” relationship, but we only know that in hindsight and life experience. And for some people it works out. It just all depends, though I think it’s wise to try to give a relationship you want to work out (if the partner is deserving and it makes sense to be together) a fighting chance.

The stories I hear from my grandparents, parents, and in-laws! My husband and I moved at a glacial pace in comparison, and my own parents immediately moved from the US to Japan after they got married; talk about big life changes! I think the secret sauce is really more about waiting until it has meaning, being able to be fully present, and an honest expression. For some that’s a moment that naturally comes up within a relationship, and for some it’s a moment reserved for after marriage.

I cannot see how waiting until marriage makes any difference to how devoted or in love a couple is. Our eldest daughters have children (all planned) with their partners and are extremely happy and devoted, we couldn’t be happier for them. If they decide to get married one day we’ll also be very happy for them, but it will make zero difference to how they feel about each other. They’ve already made a huge commitment by having children together.

I think there are a lot of practical elements to waiting until marrige. It is really important to understand how lust and physical intimacy are not the only ways to love your partner. Waiting allows a couple to practice and learn self control, while also learning how to love beyond the body. There are stages even after marrige where you may need to avoid physical intimacy (right after birth, etc for health reasons). And, if you can resist even the person you want to marry, I think you will be even more well equipped to resist temptations like cheating. All of these elements are especially important for people who do not use contraceptives (for religious, personal, health reasons etc) and again you would need to practice abstinence if you are trying to not get pregnant. Other reasons are: the natural connection you create with every sexual partner, your sexual well being, avoiding STDs, avoiding having too many points of reference (comparing x sexual partner to y sexual partner versus having only the one person you marry)

I know some people who just wait, because they’re religious, yet don’t think there’s really a reason/ effects you if you don’t and I think there’s a reason to wait and will help you more to do so and that’s why God wants us to❤️ So that’s why I say yes and no, because even if I didn’t believe in God, I would think it’s still good to wait, but I honestly probably won’t have the mental strength to if I weren’t a Christian ❤️

No, seriously. Before the act, you just make out for hours and it’s so hard to get back to that after finally doing the act- whether it’s the same person or not- bc you make out for hours bc you can’t do the act and once you’ve done it, it’s much easier to give in to the temptation and just rip off the bandaid than let it build bc there’s no more like… fear of the “what if.” It would def take a lot of discipline to not do it when making out for hours

I think waiting or not waiting are valid choices. But the whole “cow” saying is ridiculous. You choose to stay with someone and marry them because you love them, you like their company, admire them, you have common goals and so on, not to just finally gain “access” to their body to have sex with. Reducing anyone to a a cow that gives/doesn’t give milk -> person that gives/ doesn’t give you sexual pleasure is not it.

I'm so glad to have found this video. Love your channel by the way. So, me and my fiance were childhood sweethearts, but things got difficult and we grew apart, met other people, did "it' with others; didnt have faith or religion back then. It made us both feel.. not great. I rediscovered God (was raised by a hardcore atheist father and a devout Catholic mother, so navigating that confused me and made me turn away from God/not really understand the whole concept, we went to church on Sunday, and I was taught to pray every night, wasn't encouraged to read or study the Bible. Fiance was raised Amish as a boy, until he got a little older and his parents left the community. So that was a lot for him. Lost faith, and so we both lived worldly lives for 30+ years.) Fast forward, I rediscovered (reallt discovered for the first time) Christianity and God, by studying Physics. I feel that if you intensely study the sciences with an eye for only the most factual, irrefutable points, it inevitably leads to proof of a Creator. The top 1% of physicists usually end up turning towards God by the end of their careers and/or lives. Started reading the Bible, and encouraged my fiance (and father of my two children! We had one child together, and one from his previous relationship; we wanted to get married before the baby was born, but it was exactly when Covid hit and no one would or could marry us to do it in the "right" order) to get into Physics too, and it lead him also to convert to Christianity and a life of faith in God. I know we can't put the cat back in the bag, but we have been waiting till marriage for months. It's as a sign of respect for the Lord, and a symbol of our love for God and respect for each other, too. Hardest thing ever! We had no idea! It's brought us even closer together though, and we've learned how to be physical and loving to each other without being sexual or having that intent. It's actually been really beautiful and intimate and sweet. Having said that, we are now 12 days away and officially losing it but hanging in there! Lots of jokes and memes and making fun of each other. He really is my best friend.

Is a long story but the run down is me and my now wife where togueter for 4 years then we split up and fmgot back togueter almost 10 years later I was more in compromise with my faith and had taken a vote of chastity and boy let me tell you those 2 years we dated without having sex it was insane and after living thru that I feel there's nothing we Can't go thru together as long as we stay close to God.

Matt is right. When people said “I wait until married”, ok I get it but, how far did you went before you married? Because, I think, people forget there are plenty ways of having sex without penetration. Seriously you wait all that time only kissing or even not kissing at all? Wow should be hard!

Soo as a 21 year old man from India and I, am in the 1% According to Matt, and yea that might have some truth to it but I know many people like me from Saudi, India, Qatar too but I guess we're rare these days. And if am living in the west 🥴. Masha'allah Allah decided to put me to a poor family from India, and now we're an upper middle class I think , soo masha'allah 🤲. Like people from my parents time were only doing the deed after marriage but this generation is fkd soo I'll teach my kids something soo they won't have time to think about it,

You guys please reply. You said you waited three years. You guys got married age 20/21 and that would make it 7 years, no? Did you guys do it the first four? Also, you guys were each other's only romantical relationship but did you guys have had sex with anyone else?

Abby seems to have a better clarity on keeping intimacy for marriage. The struggle this couple seem to be grappling with is the fact that they are not born again Christians because that gives clear instructions from the Bible that sex outside of marriage is wrong but when you wait, like Matt said you are demonstrating self control And Matt said you don’t live with regrets but ultimately you are obeying God’s word which the Bible says sex out of marriage is fornication when you don’t have a biblical standard to build your marriage on then you fumble with what is right or wrong this does not give clarity to those who are Looking for answers or direction about appropriate behaviour while dating. Look to the Bible God created marriage and he created sex. His word will protect you and guide you in choosing a healthy spouse and building a lasting marriage.

I think that there is nothing to "admire" about people who wait until marriage. Some do it, some don't, do whatever _you_ feel comfortable with and do not let this depend on what other people tell or show you but solely on how you feel. I will say though that I think that in most cases it is not very sensible to wait until marriage to do intimate stuff (all from kissing to sex) because it is such an important and also sensitive topic. You definitely should have tried if your relationship works in this aspect and if you can trust each other and want the same things in this aspect before you tie youself to a person forever.

@@Shaughn21 Just say you aren’t disciplined and move on. You can fix it. Atleast they saved their bodies for one person who is going to cherish it and be with them for the rest of their lives instead of wasting it on a whole bunch of people who prolly don’t even care about you. Communication is key in a relationship and if they sat down and had a talk abt their bodies etc they could become sexually compatible. Like I said you have the rest of your lives to perfect it. 🙃

you both were making out when you weren't even dating?? sorry but what does it even mean? 😂 And in my opinion, I don't think waiting till the marriage is necessary. Because if both are mature and willing to do it, then there's nothing wrong with it. And the funny thing is, you guys didn't wait till marriage, but you guys got married because you couldn't wait, you weren't even earning well or having any career.

My husband and I waited until marriage but it was hard at times. We prayed together a lot, and when things got too heated, we separated for a minute or two to catch our breath and remember why it was so important that we waited. I'm really glad that we did because it made our first time that much sweeter.🩷
