The spiral diaphragm is genius. And whoever came up with the installation idea (paper & paper clip) should be given the Walbro award for innovation. My 7 yo granddaughter could install this kit. And thank you Steve for the heads up about the kit.

Great improvement. I had to replace several diaphrams on my small engines over the years. Can a pump diaphram made the same way, especially the check valve flaps? May have to be a hybrid stainless and mylar/rubber. Stainless flaps and mylar/rubber pump.

My machines have NEVER had anything in them but pure, ethanol-free pre-mix fuel (bought at the ridiculous price at HD) specifically to avoid this kind of problem, and the metering diaphragms STILL crapped-out after 2/3 years. So don't blame shoddy materials on ethanol!

To be fair, the gas they are selling in comparison to the leaded gas back in the sixties is also inferior to say the least. The chemicals are destroying the components. I'm not sure it is so much a Walbro problem as it is a gas problem. At the end of the day, the consumer is losing.

Ed even the pre mix fuels are junk they contain chemicals like Alco lights that are damaging not only to the carb but other components as well products like true fuel an stihl , Husqvarna's pre-mix are high in Alco lights that over time will in dead damage other parts of your equipment like cylinder gaskets an gas caps , it cause the caps to swell an be tough to get off . I know were I live we have an air field that will sell avgas in 5gal to the public it is non ethanol an usually around 91 octane . I've ran it for years with no problems

Who else saw the electronic carburetor? Can't wait for electronics... Why can't things be simple? Like briggs and stratton's carburetor. It only has one jet (or used to) but can't wait to get my hands on this.

Hello Dax. I think you are talking about the introduction concerning the electronic carburetor? That is the throttle body used in Walbro's EEM system (complete EFI).

anyone know if they make a spiral kit to replace the basic diaphragm D20-WYA? Walbro sales dept tells me K3 will not work on the WYA-32 as this is a fixed jet carburetor

Will these work in the carbs on my DLE 55 engines in my rc planes? The carbs are exactly the same as Walbro but have DLE stamped on them

most DLE used to carry a Walbro and now they use their own carb, I think they are exact copies. They should work

This have been around for a few years now, I wonder how well the transparent teflon diaphragm is holding up. That would be the weak link in my opinion. But I will have to give it a try.

@@petermahoney636 - if as you explain that Australia is 20 years behind U.S. helps explain why distributors have not ordered spiral diaphragm kits. It is unusual as Husqvarna is purchasing spiral diaphragm in a few new OE applications. It would seem their distributor would want to stock repair kits.

@@bobmccuewithwalbro7349 G'DAY Bob I tried to get a kit but I was ALWAYS told not available in Australia .totally a waste of time looking .E10 fuel should only be used on burning funnel web spider's not 2stoke engine's. And who is the dickhead who MADE E10 fuel never buy the shit. I ended up with walbro multiple gasket kit. But my be walbro U.S. doesn't see a market in Australia just like Detroit assholes shutting down GM.HOLDEN Australia.

around 60% more. Its a few bucks more, and a lot less problems.

It's more expensive than the standard diaphragm, however it is a more permanent fix.

hi i need a confirmation. iam a PARAMOTOR PILOT AND HAVE A MOSTER 185 ENGINE IT HAS A WB 37C CARB.IF I CHANGE THE DIAPHRAGM TO A NEW SPIRAL. I WILL NOT HAVE ANY KNOWN PROBLEMS PROVIDING I FIT THE PARTS CORRECT. DATE 16/10/2020

Hello Tony - spiral diaphragm has not been released for Walbro's WB series carburetors. Keep checking walbro.com as additional series carburetors will have spiral diaphragm upgrade kits released in the future.

Generally most of the problems are on the metering or needle valve side . the check valve side is usually a nylon caviar mix with fiber gaskets . most of the carbs I see have a metering valve an needle seat problem from gas left in them an store for long periods time .

How are you going to address modern fuels impact upon the internals of the "Check valves" contained in the Idle and high speed fuel circuts withion the carburetor itself.. ? The second question comes down to impact of mixed in cleaning aditives added to todays fuels and there impact upon the materials of the fuel system like the fuel lines all these broken down Plasticizer like materials get carryed into the internals of the Carburetor itself ..

The adjustment screws on my 3 yr old leaf blower Are so small you need a quantum screwdriver to get at them plus i don't know if a screw driver even works ,so now it bogs down ,must be some stupid skell from woodstock that designed it.

Typically, the pump of the carb will continue to function 10x longer than the metering diaphragm because the pressures are so much higher. Our tan and blue colored pump diaphragms have the best resistance to ethanol. Thanks for the good comment.

Everything needs a spiral diaphragm lol it here in California the Zama carbs get fucking chewed up in a season with that moose urine we call gasoline. Diaphragm feels like a potato chip in a year.

I first saw this in a Walbro promotional video, but they didn't have it via Amazon at the time. Diaphragm performance looks impressive, but way overpriced in my opinion. And they don't even include a new needle. So if you want to replace the other parts that come with a regular carb kit, you have to buy both the carb kit and diaphragm kit. What a rip off.
