As we packed and unpacked from the move, we found personal artifacts that allowed us to take a stroll down memory lane. We share of our favorites items that help make up who we are.
The 2023 Travelin' Young Påskebryg tasting will be a LIVESTREAM!!! Plan to join us on Saturday March 25th a 8PM DK time. Besides the core drinking duo of Peter and Joshua, we will have a couple of special guests joining us. Peter Schrøder the brewmaster from Skanderborg Bryghus will be with us again this year. We will also be welcoming a very special guest from Fanø Bryghus - the head brewer Steve Rold will bring his insights to the discussion.
We hope you can join and drink along! We have selected 9 different beers for us to drink through over the course of the evening. It would be awesome if you were able to also drink along and comment with your feedback during the stream - here is the list:
Fur Påske Frokost
Bryghuset Braustein Forårsbryg Hvede
Bryggeriet Skands Påskebryg
Hannibal Forårsbryg
Bryggeriet Refsvindinge Ale No 4 Påskeøl
Thisted Påske IPA
Harboe Påskebryg
Fanø Forår Helles Bock
Fanø Imperial Forår

Gawd! The packing & the moving! 😱 I love the unpacking, though 😉 My memory piece is quite substantial, it's a mahogany chest w. 4 drawers. My great-great grandfather was a carriage maker for the Royal House; he also made the older carriages on Bakken. He made it with no nails, all feathered joints that slot into each other... He made it for my great great-grandmother to keep her best linen in, then it was passed on to their eldest daughter, my great-grandmother on her 18th birthday.. She then passed it on to her eldest daughter, my grandmother on her wedding day.. She passed it to her eldest daughter, my mom when she moved to Canada.. It was handed down to me, being the eldest daughter, when I returned to DK and I passed it to my eldest daughter, when my grandson was born... I don't know who will get this piece later on, as my girls have all had boys 🤔 Time will tell.... hello from Hundested 🌸

No doubt, the world is a large place. So many countries, cultures and traditions you have experienced, have barely touched the surface of what's to come. I'm proud as a Dane, that you and your family decided to visit our small, but no less, interesting country. Unfortunately, you arrived at a difficult period, when Corona was making life difficult, all over the world. I hope your family is safe. ❤️

Wow! Congratulations! :-) And I SO hear you re. life choices and being a little (a lot where I am concerned) too late when it comes to diving all in. I live off my passion today, but I really should have done that waaay earlier. So my special items in my house are my comic books, Almost all of them have been published during the last three years, but why, oh why, didn't I stick with them when I was younger? Well, sometimes life is just more complicated than you anticipated. So I am grateful that I, at least, saw the light before I got too old. ;-) I am sorry that I can't be with you at your live streaming on Saturday - but you see, I will be at Fantask instead - fulfilling my life's dream and signing my own comic books.. Here's to sticking with your dream!

Congrats moving into your new house. Lovely memories, it pleases me Maya rank Efterskole memory so high. I have started making shelves and floor in the attic and found a lot of forgotten objects that we shoveled in for more than 20 years ago, some directly from earlier basement 😆 Lots of great memories coming up, mostly from my son's childhood 🥰

Hi :) I would have liked the internet when I was sailing long distance in the 80s, to share my experiences with my family. But I was able to take quite a few photos, and also exchanged letters with them. The things that fill me with many memories today are the books that my father wrote about his whole life, which only our 3 daughters got. And in those books there was also written a chronological list with all the names and years of parents and grandparents that my father could remember. And all the boxes with photos that have been passed down from the family and those that my father took, where names and years were written on the back. And because of all these things, it has been possible for me to create an extended family tree that I have gotten all the way back to 1761. There have been many interesting family members and stories to find because of them. And I can only recommend that others obtain and write down as much information as possible from their own families while they are still alive. Remember, we are all a product of our family's past. But also be aware that unexpected information may appear which may cause discord in the family. So show consideration for that kind of thing. Sometimes it is better to keep something to yourself than to destroy the family bond. :)

Interesting to see - and hear about - Maya's yearbook. That's such an iconic American thing. Take good care of it! And glad she enjoyed efterskole. Next (for all of you, if possible) at some time, is højskole. These two institutions have been life defining for many people. Thx for an interesting video! 👍🏻

Efterskole is something that will stick with you for life, i have the same photo with friends cramped in on the bed. I am 42 years old now, and still have alot of people in my life i call friends back from the times at eftterskole, and even if we are in very different walks of our lives and "social classes" we are just the same old people we were back then

Congratulations with your new home. I love that the booze is still going to be in the background ;) :D Lovely to hear about your memories. I was surpriced to learn that Maya plays tuba? Maybe she should play it in one of your videos :) Where is Brisket? Is he still adapting to his new home? Looking forward to the easterbeer tasting, unforntunetly I wont be able to watch it live, but I will be watching it on sunday afternoon. A suggestion for some videos is that each of you maybe in 3 different videos could cook your favorit danish and american food :)

one day... would it be fun if Maya could make a "group call" like Skype, Twich or whatever you use.. a kind of "old student day" with some of those from her class in the u.s. -what are they doing? -what have they done? -job/education, -what has it cost them? -what do they earn? income versus working time/holiday. -plans for the future?

As a former guest to Egypt 8 times - up and down the Nile from Luxor, I have been inside all the pyramids and the first time was shortly after a massacre on German tourists at Hatshepsut's Temple! We had armed guards in the busses and metal controls in the entrances - and the traffic in Cairo was, the most Insane I have never experienced, ever! We lived in The Winter Palace, where also Howard Carter lived while excavating King Tuts Tomb.

We were in Luxor about 2 1/2 years after the massacre in May of 2000. There weren’t too many armed guards there, but when we went to the red pyramid an armed escort joined us in our taxi for the last part of the ride.

" ... this picture of Miranda and ME " ( of US! ) 🙄😂 A bit sad having to teach Americans their "own" language 😋

I will disagre with you. If he had said US instead of Miranda and ME - It will have told us that Maya also is on the picture - whice she is not
@Bjowolf2
@Bjowolf2 Год назад
@@klaushougaard8079 No, that's besides the point I was trying to make here. Many speakers of English and Americans in particular use the wrong case in such situations saying "I" ( nominative ), where "me" is the correct case (dative), whereas they would never confuse "we" and "us" in the same situation ( "... a picture of we" 🙄 ). It's called hypercompensation - and it's the result of being told constantly that saying "Miranda and me" is wrong, but that only applies, when they are the subject of the sentence - otherwise it's "me"! ( accusative and dative ).
@klausolekristiansen2960

It is amazing how similar English and Danish is. This is an error that is also common in Danish. What happens is that when a kid says e.g "Me and Mirand are going out to play," someone will say "It is 'Miranda and I'". There are two things that get mixed up here. "Me" is of course a grammar error. "I and Miranda are ..." is perfect grammar, but it is more polite to put yourself last. This is too complicated for many kids. They just think that it is always "Miranda and I".
@Bjowolf2
@Bjowolf2 Год назад
@@klausolekristiansen2960 Yes, but it wasn't always like that - I think this "I for me" / "Jeg for mig" phenomenon in Danish is a relatively recent influence from English, mainly from US movies and TV series. Yes, but then again English, as we know it, is a sort of simplistic mix at its basic level between the two closely related Germanic languages Old English (Anglo-Saxon) and Old Norse ( the ancestor of Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic and Faroese ). So there is a deep lying reason for all these amazing similarities between English and Danish ( + the very similar Norwegian & Swedish languages ). Old English was a much more complicated language with 4 - 5 grammatical cases, 3 grammatical genders and 7 (!) grammatical persons - along the lines of modern German in a sense. But then the Vikings arrived and offered their "unselfish" linguistic aid ... 😂 Check out the brilliant video from Langfocus called "Viking Influence on the English Language" & Melvyn Bragg's great TV series "The Adventure of English" ( especially episodes 1 & 2 ( of 8 ) in this context ).
