FILM DESCRIPTION:
Following a childhood tragedy, Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly) follows a long and winding road to music stardom. Dewey perseveres through changing musical styles, an addiction to nearly every drug known and bouts of uncontrollable rage, until finally, he wins the heart, but not necessarily the body, of his loyal backup singer, Darlene (Jenna Fischer).

I’m glad this is in people’s recommended now. It’s easily one of the dumbest movies, but definitely one of my favorites! It’s like a spoof of “Walk the Line”. Give it a watch!

I really wouldn't call it dumb tbh, I think it's a clever movie in it's own regard. Much great "dumb comedy" needs smart writing to be funny. I like how this movie journeys through US musical history from the 40s through the 70s really and pokes fun at every very movement and individual in the industry. It's like a crazy self aware movie where the characters are literally 0% self aware and that's so great about it.
