Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. #Vanlife was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

I just got this message from Matt and wanted to share what a difference y’all have made: “It's impossible for me to find the correct words to express my depth of gratitude that I feel towards you both. Thank you is what you say when you get handed a coffee through the drive through window at Dunkin, not when someone has changed your life! The virtual world can mislead most people into thinking life is all high when truth turns out to be boring. Kara and Nate, this video really touched my heart. I drove my son and godson across the country on a great end of the summer road trip from Los Angeles to Rhode Island where I dropped them off for their first year of college. Then I drove back by myself with a box of Kleenex for company. I am missing them so much, so it was incredibly fun for me to see every detail of Rhode Island as you walked across the state. It made me feel a little bit like I was there. I even surprised myself when I got emotional when you arrived in Providence and I could see the buildings they can see from their dorm room. This video was anything but boring. Thank you for bringing a mom a bit closer to her boys. xo

As a native Rhode Islander, this was my favorite video you’ve made haha you literally walked by my house and my parents house!😂 But for anyone who plans to do this, the “greenway” which we just call the bike path here isn’t always safe at night in certain spots. It runs along side my house and we’ve seen some scary things happen. So please be safe.💗

I live in RI. The East Bay Bike path isn't so dangerous now as it was 15 years ago. I'd argue it's worse in the barrington/warren/bristol area than in east providence or west warwick.

This reminds me so much of my 2 years as a USPS mail carrier. I walked 20-25 miles a day carrying heavy mail and packages through yards and up so many steps. Glad you don’t have thousands of stairs to go up and down.

Where I live, most of the city has kiosks; but yesterday I was at a friend’s house when their individual house type mail delivery person came by, with what looked like a really heavy bag on one shoulder, and it really struck me how physically demanding that job would be (even though routes in this town are “only” 5-6 miles long). If you were that mail person, it would be tempting to just toss any junk mail items. (Through snow and sleet and whatever, no less!)

i love this idea but i also really like that it brought up the conversation of how hard it is to commute by walk comfortably, safely, and without feeling judgment in the usa. this wasn't too bad but a lot of places you would have to either walk on the highways to get there in a timely manor. everything is so car-centric and designed in a way that makes a mile walk in an urban or suburban area complicated and unsafe. you are unintentionally advocating for this and it's a conversation more people should have! more safe and straight forward sidewalks and public transportation:-)

I walk alot where I live at there is a silent stigma but I don't really care. I have no choice since I can't afford nor allowed to drive a vehicle becuase of health issues. Walking is good for the body,mind and spirit.

You pointed out many things that make for a livable urban environment: greenways, walkable space, a safe place from cars, public washrooms are awesome, negative impact of noise from cars, human connections you make when not in a car - meeting the guy bike touring, good lighting and eyes-on makes you feel safe, and having pizza available at all times is key!

OMG you literally walked by my house! How cool. You chose a great place to stop for pizza. Sax is delicious. When I figured out you guys were going to walk on the bike path at night I said oh my that's not good. This video was so fun to watch.

Not quite a cake but a cupcake with a cherry on top - the shout out to Matt's cup of Coffee. Thought it would be a boring walk but the stops, conversations, food and people met made it special in its own way. This maybe a week after your posting date but still good. I have a friend who ran across the country from coast to coast, she was doing around 35 miles a day and she trained for a long time before the trek and was hurting and so swollen at the end of each day that she would take an ice bath. You guys didn't really train but you still did so well! I'm pretty impressed!
