The Heygate Estate is (was) a large housing estate located in Walworth, Southwark, South London. It once housed more than 3,000 people. The estate is going to be demolished as part of the regeneration of the Elephant and Castle area. In the latter part of the video is a selection of photos of the various, wonderful, colourful Graffiti seen around the estate.

Such valuable footage now. I remember passing this estate on the train often but back then there was never much of a reason to go into Elephant & Castle.

I lived on this estate for about 5 years. Have some good and had memories.... I lived on the 9th floor of Ashenden that overlooked the New Kent Rd...had some amazing views

It was a council estate in a part of London that is now very lucrative for property building so the council tenants were moved out and the estate has been demolished and replaced with very expensive properties that are making a few people an enormous amount of money. A lot of the new properties are owned by people overseas who will never live there, they're just investment purchases.
