A walk through Briton Ferry Forest and up the mountain. Another beautiful country walk in South Wales.

The walk takes you from the car park near Jersey Park in Briton Ferry through Britton Ferry Forest and up the side of the mountain. The first part of the walk is uphill.
The walk then takes you around the top of the mountain before dropping back down to the car park. There are alternative paths to explore and the short diversion to the reservoir.
The 4-mile walk takes about 1 and a half hours

That mountain was my playground when I was a kid in the 70s. The pylon at the top of the firebreak is near to the look out (a craggy outcrop) where you can see right across Baglan, the bay, Mumbles and Swansea. The reservoir was very large expanse of water, where we’d fish for small fish. Or for me, usually fall in… Bygone days, sadly missed 😢

Hi Marcus at around the 12:08 mark there is a faded path way you can take on the right and it will take you to a little place called the lookout where you can see all of Baglan, sand fields and most of Port Talbot It’s a real hidden gem

I wonder if the children's sci-fi TV series you mentioned was 'The Changes' from 1975?

I'm Briton Ferry born and bred, I love this walk. At the highest point by the big stones, you can go left and up even higher. You get one hell of a view. Then you can go even higher and you reach an iron age hill fort. You can still see the mounds or ramparts and a grave dug out. It's awesome. If you want to see it let me know. Cool videos man! 👍

The res was lovely in it's heyday before they destroyed the main wall.people enjoyed going their ,wild camping ,fishing and swimming. But they didn't like people enjoying themselves for free .so they destroyed the res . It's a great shame because they used the water via helecopters to put out forest fires . No one to my knowledge drowned in the res ., which is good news.
