See this is the problem with telltale games and probably the core reason they shut down. Telltale describes its self as a game where your choices impact the outcome of the game but so far the only thing thats impacted is your relationship with the other characters but even with that taken into account there are still certain outcomes involving those characters that always happen no matter how good or bad your relationship with those characters are. Plus theres the fact that no matter what you do or how the relationships with you and the other characters are the episodes are always concluded in the same or similar way. Making the whole mechanic of the games pointless. I mean sure they are some unique things that can happen with the characters based on your relationship but in the end of the day it doesn't matter as some of their fates are scripted and theres nothing you can do to change it. It really takes away the effect their trying to convey of the players being in full control of the game if so much stuff is scripted and if you don't make certain decisions or keep certain characters alive the game kills you thus forcing you to make those decisions. Don't get me wrong I loved telltales many games well most of them at least but whats the point of trying to create games where your choices matter if there are situations that always happen despite your choices or even times were you are forced to make a choice even if you don't want too.
Giving them credit would be Telltale trying to make a statement about fate, but reality is the difficulty in creating a truly diverse ending when voice acting is a thing
This ☝ 👏 👏 you speaked my mind out. How Telltale was expecting the people to buy a game where the choices are useless? Game developers can make diverse endings for a game, like those for Until Dawn, a game that achieves this.
The thing you have to remember about choice based games is that they only really work when there’s no sequel lined up, I mean, look at games like until dawn and more recently, Detroit become human, that game had MANY ways in which your game could end, imagine trying to write out those tons and tons of different scenarios for a possible sequel! It’s not as easy as it looks on pen and paper guys. Who knows maybe since this is the final season, we’ll get more player influenced outcomes
This might get lost in the comments, but I'll say this nevertheless. I've been feeling very down lately, I've had some difficulties with a very dear friend, and it has taken a toll on me. Anxiety, sorrow, heartbreak, all those emotions were the major emotions I've had lately. Until I found you Kevin. I cannot remember when I've been laughing this much. Your videos have helped me to see the bright side of things and they have been a prime distraction to me whenever those shitty emotions have been taking over. There doesn't seem to be another option anyway, is there? I doubt there will be a "happily ever after" ending, considering the walkers still haven't decayed even after 8 years. And I doubt Clem would be able to negotiate with any group after seeing what Lily did. So, that only leaves one option, and that is our protagonist girl dying, and the sweet sense of irony in her death would be fine to finish off the series, I suppose.
