Walking along Queen Street in the morning in St Marys Town Centre, Sydney. Walk started from the corner of Queen Street & Charles Hackett Drive then walked to St Marys Station, Great Western Highway & Coachmans Park. St Marys NSW Australia walking tour.
St Marys is a suburb in western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is 45 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Penrith.
St Marys sits between South Creek which forms the western boundary and Ropes Creek, its eastern boundary.
The township of St Marys was first known as South Creek. The Bennett coach and wagon works manufactured horse-drawn wagons to meet the growing demand for transport in Sydney.
The main commercial area of St Marys, is primarily on Queen Street, with some shops along Railway Street, and the Great Western Highway.
The M4 Motorway sits along the southern boundary with entrance and exit ramps to Mamre Road leading to St Marys Town Centre (North) and the St Clair estate (South). The Great Western Highway is the major East/West road in the suburb.
St Marys is also serviced by a regular passenger rail service along the main western railway line with St Marys station forming a major local public transport hub combining rail, bus and taxi services.

My ancestors have lived in St Marys since 1850 back when the town was called "South Creek" before it was named after the St Mary Magdalene Church of England where my ancestors married & were buried. My father, husband & I still live in the town to this day & possibly distant cousins as well 🥰

Thanks for this video. I was born in the nepean hospital in 1966 and lived in St Marys all my life 'till 2003. So much of Queen St has changed. Very few shops/establishments still remain. Change and progress is sad to me, maybe because I'm getting old. Living in the northern beaches area of Coffs Harbour now and absolutely loving it. Will never forget where I came from. Thankyou again. PS. Wish you'd taken just a short stroll up the side streets and arcades. Love it. God Bless

Mock the place all you like but myself my friends my family all live or lived here and all have prosperous lives due to our local education and hard work ethic. Everybody comes from somewhere but it’s what you make of your self that means something. Love to my original home

Thank you for this walk down memory lane! it's been a long time for me since I lived in St Marys I played my memory game and.....Doves Jewelry! St Marys pub did not look any different, lol, the station area looked very much the same, that area you walked down just before you got to the station made me giggle, a church! there use to be something quite different there back in the late 70's/early 80's or so I was told, I remember waiting for a bus across from the station with friends and a woman came out from the building which looks like it is now the church and a friend said" guess what she is" and they told me! my dad said to me I was never to go to that end of the street and always stay on the station side! lol the apartment buildings up behind the shops on the right hand side of Queen st looked huge! I loved St Marys when I lived there mid 70's -late 80's, I wonder if the St Marys band club is still there..Friday night disco!! Thank you again for the walk and video!!

This is ancient history, now. Shops opposite the station are all closed and boarded up. There is all the changes for the coming metro. Can post my links to all that, if interested. Metro has saved St Marys from a complete close-down, in my opinion. No Station Plaza shops, now. Wonder if we will see the 5-level car park at the back of the station in his?

Would love to watch one of you walking around Epping, NSW, including a visit to the new Metro lines, from the streets, just like you've done with a lot of the other new Metro stations. Sure am fed up with seeing just the insides odf metro stations with the trains arriving.

Great Footage of Queen St St Mary’s Ohhhhh the Memories it was my place where I was born & bred there in the Early 70’s Ohhhh the Memories I still can’t believe that Doves Jewellers, Golden Chopsticks, Silver Palace are still there they were there in the very early 80’s. Sadly it used to be a Top Place to Live but ( Not Now ) I’d like to go & drive around there again But I Moved away in the early 2002 The Memories of growing Up in & around there. I’m 50 yrs old now but sadly we all move on. I now live over 2 hrs away from there now Hopefully I’ll get back there again to reminisce the Old days. Always 2760 😂👍

St Mary’s is supposed to become a new transport hub as it’ll have a metro line connecting to Western Sydney Airport. Maybe that’ll happen in 20 years. Right now St Mary’s is in the dumps.
